George W. Bush and Black Holes!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

By Reggie, Contributing Editor, TvNewsLIES.org

Most of us don’t know a helluva lot about black holes, and probably don’t really care to know very much about them. But in truth, black holes are really fascinating once you take a closer look, even to a lay person with not much background. Trust me on that for a bit.

For starters, what I do know is that a black hole is an area out in space that’s so huge that its gravitational pull is astounding. So, astounding, in fact, that nothing, absolutely nothing that gets close can escape being sucked into it. That means everything, no matter how massive, would be able to escape its pull and nothing we know could move fast enough to draw away from its gravitational power. Not even a beam of light.

Stay with me here and you’ll see where I’m going.

One more interesting bit: According to Einstein, objects of very great mass distort time and space so that the usual rules of geometry just can’t be used to explain their behavior. So, when it comes to a black hole, something strange happens. It has a boundary that’s very unusual. If you reached that boundary, you could pass through it, but you would not be able to back out. In fact, once you’ve passed through the boundary you’d be doomed to move closer and closer to the center of the black hole.

And then it would only be a very short time until you die.

Now, that’s all fairly interesting, but why would I want to write about black holes at all? Stay with me just a little bit longer, I promise to connect.

For the record, and just in case you do happen to get pulled into a black hole, rest assured that you wouldn’t really feel anything terribly unusual at first. If the hole was a really big one, you wouldn’t be torn apart until you were about half a million kilometers from the center. Imagine that. Even as you were being pulled towards certain doom you might not suspect that anything was terribly wrong.

I suppose, when it comes to black holes, in a way, bigger is better.

And in a way, a really big black hole has formed right here on earth, and right here in the good old USA. And in a most precarious way, we all are dangerously close to the boundary from which there is no return. For in an undeniable and almost inevitable way there is a direct nexus between a barely discernible black hole in our own land and the reign of George W. Bush.

For the sake of simplicity, let’s call it the Bush Black Hole and understand that we can’t see into its abyss because black holes are devoid of light. But if we take a look around, we become painfully aware of the things that have disappeared from our lives in the past seven years, never ever to be seen again. Some vanished in secret while others were tossed into the chasm with arrogant disregard of all that we once were as a nation.

No matter how it came to pass, so much of value has crossed a mysterious boundary into the oblivion of the Bush Black Hole. Tragically, much of what has disappeared has not yet been missed by so many Americans. They don’t have a clue that so much that was so vital to their lives has been hauled forever into the bowels of this administration.

So many Americans are still unaware that the Bush Black Hole contains the dismembered remains of:

-Elections free of Supreme Court interference

-Congressional oversight

-Separation of church and state

-An impartial investigation of the events of 9/11

-Checks and balances

-The right of dissent without fear

-The Fourth Amendment

-Habeas corpus

-A responsible White House Press Corps

-Respect of the US by people around the world

-New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast

-Respect for international treaties

-Rejection of pre-emptive or preventive war

-The Geneva Conventions

-International Law

- Truth and integrity in government

-Diplomacy and cooperation with other nations

-Investigative reporting by mainstream media

-Environmental protections

-The FISA Court

-Protection of covert CIA operatives

-Nuclear disarmament and non proliferation

-An overburdened and under equipped military

-Almost four thousand American and coalition troops

-Hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghanis

-Fiscal responsibility

-America’s middle class

-Health care for all children

-A nation free of PNAC control

-Democracy

And that, as the saying goes, is the short list. But not to worry, there’s lots of room in the Bush Black Hole for more. Black holes are notoriously immense and George W. Bush, with his dreams of empire, has more time to carry out his goals than you might think.

A recent Presidential Directive has given the Bush administration full power to transfer control of this nation from the Congress and place it into the hands of the White House. Another such directive gives this President the right to declare martial law when and if he deems it necessary. Every day the drums of war beat more loudly for an attack against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran. Do the math.

Then try to assess just how close we all are to the boundary that separates us from the Bush Black Hole. We already have lost so much that is totally irretrievable. If we endure as a free nation and as a free people we might recreate what we have lost one day in the future. But right now we are in a fight for survival.

Understand that it is possible to enter a black hole with no sensation of the destructive force about to be encountered. Passing the boundary can be relatively uneventful and temporarily comfortable. But once over the line there is no way to retreat, and the fate of all who pass the boundary is forever sealed.

And so it has come to pass in the Bush administration that they have acted with impunity and hubris in a terrorized nation and an intimidated world. They have not been stopped nor will anyone stop them any time soon. And, like the children who followed the Pied Piper to the river, so many Americans are walking willingly towards the Black Hole that George Bush has created.

The choice, then, is clear. We can work to make others aware of the dangers they still do not see. We can direct others to the truth of what has happened and shake them out of their passivity and blindness. Or, as happens to so many bodies in space that unwittingly find themselves heading directly towards the boundaries from which they will never escape, we can just do nothing but sit back and enjoy the ride.

Coming of Age in Bush’s America!

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Reggie, Contributing Editor, TvNewsLIES.org

Imagine being on the brink of adolescence in the year 2000, - only minimally aware of the world around you, and really not into the foibles of politics or politicians. Life was what it was, and you took it pretty much for granted. In fact, for you and other young teens in 2000; things seemed pretty good and getting better, because you were growing up in the richest and most powerful nation in the whole damn world.

It wasn’t a perfect place, for sure, but it had potential. There were wrongs to be righted, but there was real hope that things would only get better as the years went on. All in all, in the year 2000, being a kid in America was a good thing to be.

Now imagine that it is seven years later and you have just grown into adulthood, and you gradually realize that in a frighteningly short a time your entire world has become unraveled. In just seven years, everything good that once was there is gone, and your country has come apart at the seams before your very eyes.

Really think about these last seven years and recoil at what it actually means to have come of age in Bush’s America.

To assist your reality check, here’s a short list the mind-boggling transformations that have become standard operating procedure in the good old USA. Read them carefully:*

* The outcome of an a presidential election can be decided by a handful of Supreme Court Justices rather than the people.

* A President of the United States need not speak honestly, coherently or intelligibly when not reading from a prepared text. It is acceptable for the President to be reviled around the globe and to be unable to travel anywhere without extraordinary protection from huge protests against his visit and his policies.

* Where it was once highly respected, the United States of America is now the most feared nation on Earth. The US can murder more civilians than all the world’s terrorists combined and claim its actions are meant to liberate people.

* The major tools of executive governance are lies, secrecy and the abuse of executive privilege. These methods are implemented under the guise of national security in order to thwart any and all departmental oversight.

* Voting machines can be privately owned by members of one political party, and need not have paper trails for verifying results. It is irrelevant to the election process that voting machines have been shown to be easily hacked, and that voting irregularities have prevented many thousands of people from voting or having their votes counted.

* Elected leaders and their cohorts can lie with impunity to the American people, to the Congress, to the UN and to the world. There is no oversight; there are no checks and balances, and no mainstream media to act as watchdogs for the people.

* The President can quietly override the will of the people by the use of signing statements. He can claim the authority to disobey hundreds of laws enacted by Congress, thereby asserting the power to set aside any statute when it conflicts with his personal interpretation of the Constitution.

* The 2001 attack on American soil need not be fully investigated, and the causes of the attacks as explained by the President must be believed without question.

* Any questions raised about that attack, and all the evidence exposing the anomalies of the official story of what happened are nothing more than ˜conspiracy theories” raised by deranged people or those who sympathize with terrorists.

* Pre-emptive and preventive attacks on other nations that include use of nuclear weapons are legal tools of American foreign policy.

* Wars can be waged against benign nations that have never harmed the US or posed any threat whatever to Americans or their allies.

* The reasons for invading and occupying non-threatening nations must not be challenged, even if they change dozens of times throughout the years of waging such a war.

* Soldiers can be sent into an immoral and unjust war with little planning and inadequate armor, and unending redeployment. At the same time, veterans’ health care is unimportant and can be shamefully administered.

* Terror threats can be fabricated at will to keep the public in a state of constant fear. Creating an illusory ˜war on terror’ can be used to gain public support for a costly and failing war that reaps huge profits for private contractors.

* Americans and others living in the US can be spied upon without probable cause and without the acquisition of warrants in defiance of existing FISA laws.

* Anyone can be declared an enemy combatant at the whim of the administration and can be confined indefinitely without being charged or having access to counsel.

* Torturing detainees in violation of the Geneva Convention is acceptable, and if in doubt, rendition to countries that will do the torturing is a viable alternative.

* There need be no accountability for anyone in or connected to the White House for inept performance, for disastrous decisions, or for criminal acts such as lying under oath, obstructing justice or revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative.

* Martial law can be declared at the discretion of the White House, should it deem any emergency situation to exist. By official directive, in such an emergency, all powers can be taken from the legislative and judicial branches and transferred to the President.

* Anyone who participates in or supports actions that are determined to interfere with the waging of war in Iraq can have all personal assets confiscated without due process. It is not necessary for the person involved to know which organization or group is considered such interference.

* The use of a stem cell from a discarded embryo in a Petri dish for medical research is immoral. The death of hundreds of thousands of people in a senseless war of choice is moral.

* Family values translate into rejecting a woman’s the right to privacy and opposing marriage between people of the same sex.

* Empirical science can be invalidated by biblical precepts.. Global warming and evolution are junk science.

…and on and on and on and on.

Do you really need more examples to ponder? I think not.

The distinction is clear: coming of age in Bush’s America means living with a new set of principles and practices that are diametrically opposed to those upon which this nation was founded.

What is even worse is that anyone who was a child in this country before 2000 will probably not recall or understand how great a nation we were before the Bush/PNAC takeover. It is not unreasonable for that person to believe that the government in power today is carrying on business as usual, and that this is how it should be.

Even sadder is the notion that it will take generations to undo the damage, and these same young Americans may never, ever experience life in a country of laws and Constitutional integrity.

For all of these reasons, a great responsibility falls on the shoulders of those of us who, as adults, witnessed the coup that took place and understand the devastation that followed. It is up to us to educate and inform those who came of age in Bush’s America of the desperate and immediate need to reclaim the nation we once knew.

Each day that passes brings new revelations of how far this administration will go to usurp more and more power at the expense of its people. Each day that passes reveals more lies, more disdain for the rule of law, more contempt for Constitutional checks and balances and more plans to enrich the military industrial complex that has joined forces with the White House.

But mainstream media coverage of these travesties is all but non-existent, save for the forceful commentary of Keith Olbermann and the scathing satire of Jon Stewart. That simply will not do.

One of these days the people in power will reach a point of no return. On that day there will be no way remaining to restore the republic to its former self and we the people will have no legal recourse for change. And that time is not far off.

A generation ago, the young people of America brought their government to its knees after ten bloody years in Vietnam. They had come of age as another senseless war was being waged, and as their precious blood was being sought to continue to the carnage.

This time around, they are far too silent, and far too removed from immediate consequence. That also will not do.

What will do, however, has got start with the dissemination of truth about a government that has suppressed so much of it. It has to continue with a rejection of the mainstream media for their unabashed complicity in everything that has happened. And it has to be followed up by information networking among the millions of young people for whom the Internet has become a standard means of communication.

The real news is out there for the asking: TvNewsLIES.org, Whatreallyhappened.com, Buzzflash.com, Truthout.com, Huffingtonpost.com, Thinkprogress.org, Commondreams.org and other web sites post important stories that seriously affect the lives of so many people every single day. Mike Malloy broadcasts every weekday evening via NovaMRadio.com. Bring these vital news sources to the attention of those who still are oblivious to what is going on.

Knowledge is power; ignorance is no longer an option. It is the only legal weapon we have at our disposal. Without it, millions upon millions of young men and women will remain frighteningly unaware of the dictatorship that is being created step by step all around them because there is no open opposition to its progress.

Without information in the hands of the public, those in power get a free ride. The young men and women of America must wake up. They have to play an active and visible role in resisting the creeping death of democracy in their own country.

If not, they will pay a very painful and irreversible price for coming of age in Bush’s America.

AND THEN THERE WAS ONE! The Final Holdout: 9/11

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

By Reggie, Contributing Editor, TvNewsLIES.org

NOTE: Please link to our new site for updated 9/11 news-at-a-glance!

Not to worry, this is not about truth seekers or conspiracy theories. It is not about the long list of anomalies and discrepancies in the official story of 9/11. It is not even about the undeniable fact that the events of 9/11 gave George Bush and his handlers the keys to the neocon kingdom of empire. It really is not.

What it is about is the strangest phenomenon I can recall in my entire adult life. It is about what I perceive to be an extraordinary lapse in the logic of millions of otherwise sensible Americans. And it is about something I cannot wrap my mind around, no matter how I try. Maybe someone out there can help me understand what is going on.

In preface, let me also say that this is not about being uninformed. Granted, the corporate media have suppressed any discussion, debate or investigative reporting about the attacks on the United States that purportedly changed everything. That reality aside, even the most fawn-like pundits on the airwaves understand that the ship of state is sinking, and that it is time to challenge the lies of this administration. But, it seems that lie after lie has become fair game for disclosure, or at least for some discussion at this point. As a result, each day, the American people in larger and larger numbers understand that they have been taken for a terrible and costly ride by the lies they were told by this President and his cohorts.

That is, every lie but one.

Finally, nearly seven years after a stolen election that was itself based on lies, greater numbers of Americans are no longer blindly accepting the talking points emanating from the White House as the Gospel truth. In more and more media outlets the Bush lies are openly being identified as such, - rather than by every other euphemism meant to soften the ugliness of a government lying to its people. If people are not totally convinced, at least they hear debates and discussions and competing viewpoints. If nothing else, they are beginning to have doubts about the daily mantras that had them mesmerized for so long.

So, take a look at just the short list of these lies, so as better to understand my dilemma about the lone holdout: 9/11. Bear with me:

At this point in time, many, if not most Americans know that the men and women in the Bush White House clearly and deliberately LIED to them, both by omission and commission about:

- The Bush connection to the bin Laden family.

- Escorting dozens of members of the bin Laden family out of US after 9/11

- The Patriot Act having been written decades before 9/11

- The call for a new Pearl Harbor by the neocons who orchestrated the wars

- A totally invalid and false connection between Iraq and the phony War on Terror

- Regular, politically timed terror alerts

- Toxic air quality at Ground Zero after 9/11

- The junk science of Global Warming and its effects around the globe

- WH orders to suppress and politicize reports on by the Surgeon General

- Plans for wars with Iraq and Afghanistan that were made before 9/11

- Saddam Hussein’s possession of WMD

- Saddam Hussein’s connection to Al Qaeda

- Saddam Hussein’s involvement in 9/11

- Saddam Hussein’s threat to the US or his neighbors

- Having NO plans for an extended occupation of Iraq or for keeping the peace

- Inadequate armor and supplies for our men and women in uniform

- Supposed progress in Iraq, time after time

- Fudged numbers of civilian deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq

- The staged toppling of Saddam’s statue

- The staged rescue of Jessica Lynch

- The lies about Pat Tillman’s death by friendly fire

- Illegal warrantless spying on US citizens

- Torture at Abu Ghraib and other prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan

- Rendition of detainees to other countries for torture

- Outing Valerie Plame as a CIA operative

- White House involvement in the firing of federal prosecutors.

There are so many more lies to list, but I think you get the idea.

Am I wrong to believe that in any other life situation there would be a different reaction to a series of important lies? If you became aware that your plumber or your neighbor or your doctor, or anyone at all in your life lied to you over and over and over about issues that were relevant to your well being, would you ever again believe ANYTHING that person said to you? I really don’t think so.

So, after becoming aware of lie after lie after lie by Bushco, why would anyone in his or her right mind FULLY EMBRACE THE OFFICIAL STORY OF WHAT HAPPENED ON 9/11 WITHOUT A SINGLE QUESTION? Why would anyone in the United Sates of America conclude that the official version of the most important event in recent American history AS TOLD BY PROVEN LIARS is true?

Help me out here, please.

It makes no sense to me at all. Especially, since the most telling part of all this illogic is this: NONE OF THE LIES ON THE ABOVE LIST WOULD HAVE BEEN NECESSARY OR EVEN POSSIBLE WERE IT NOT FOR AN UNSWERVING ACCEPTANCE BY MOST AMERICANS OF THE OFFICIAL VERSION OF 9/11.

Bottom line: I fully understand how difficult it is to believe anything other than the official government story of 9/11. The editor of TvNewsLIES.org has examined the reasons behind the refusal of so many Americans to believe the mounds of evidence that challenge the credibility of the story we have been told. Fine and good.

But, frankly, for the purpose of this article, your personal opinion about who was responsible for 9/11 is irrelevant. It makes no difference at all. What matters is that we examine the strange illogic that stops millions of Americans from questioning a possible lie - one that may matter more than any other. These same Americans now seem willing to openly question many of the lies that are told and repeated ad nauseam by the President and his clan. They are now for more skeptical about their messages and far more hesitant to believe anything George W. Bush tells them in his speeches and press conferences.

But they still will not consider for a moment that the official story of 9/11 as told by this lying government may also be a lie. Ergo, the illogic I cannot understand..

The official story of 9/11 has been told by professional, experienced, and successful liars.
Think about that as you try to explain the need to believe it.

Maybe it will take another 9/11, as we’ve recently been warned may happen very soon, to convince Americans that the most egregious and damaging of all the lies told by the Bush administration must not remain off limits.

We really have few choices left. We have to reach that logical moment when we can openly discuss and debate and examine the available information about 9/11, no matter what the outcome may be. We have to retrieve our collective abilities to examine the events of that day. Perhaps, then, we finally can say about the lies we have heard:

…and then there were none.

REQUIRED READING FOR BUSH SUPPORTERS! - The George W. Bush Administration:

DEAD ON THE FOURTH OF JULY!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

For he’s a Yankee Doodle Dandy, Yankee Doodle Do or Die…. A real live nephew of his Uncle Sam, Dead on the Fourth of July… (with apologies to George M. Cohan)

Fly your flags, all you patriots; it’s another Fourth of July! Fire up the barbecues, ice up the beer and get ready to celebrate another Independence Day in the good old USA. And be sure not to miss the fabulous fireworks that so majestically explode in the night sky to the music of God Bless America. Makes you proud, doesn’t it?

And oh, while you’re at it, don’t give a moment’s thought to the men and women fighting the Bush/PNAC wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. You know, the troops who are out there supposedly fighting for your freedom, or for an end to terror, or for regime change, or for Iraqi liberation, or for the spread of democracy, or for oil, or for George Bush and Dick Cheney or whatever. Don’t let them spoil your fun. After all, it’s a holiday. Enjoy.

Heck, it’s a war, and people die, right? Have another hot dog. So what if nearly 3,600 Americans and nearly 300 ‘coalition’ forces are dead on this Fourth of July? So what if hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghanis are dead on this Fourth of July? So what if tens of thousands of young men and women are no longer whole in mind and body? It’s a holiday. Play ball.

Yeah, it’s been a bloody few months, - the worst, in fact, since that other amazing fireworks show called Shock and Awe. Do you even remember that spectacular night? Never mind, it’s party time in America. Don’t let images of innocent people being blown to bits get in the way of your fun. Don’t get upset about a needless war that has been raging for more than four years with no end in sight. Just go for a swim on this lovely day. And tomorrow is a workday. Damn.

The dead are dead, and there’s nothing you can do to change that, right? There’ll surely be more dead men and women and children tomorrow, and who knows how many thousands will join the dead and dying by the next Fourth of July.

Oh, that’s right… you really don’t approve of the war any more, do you? As a good American, you wouldn’t mind seeing it all end, and you really want the troops to come home one of these days. But, what the hell, there’s nothing much you can do about it, so don’t let it bother you. Relax. Have a beer.

But when the songs and star bursts have ended, and when the food is all gone and your back home, safe and sound, stop and think. Think for just a moment of those who are dead on this Fourth of July because of the greed and insanity of those who lied this country into an illegal and immoral war. When the holiday has ended, think for just a moment of those who will be dead in time for the next Independence Day.

And then sit back and wonder whether there was anything at all to celebrate.

A Mother’s Day Message to George!

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Hey, George! While Laura and Mama Bush are opening their Mother’s Day cards, just take a minute to think about the mothers you’ve sent to fight your freaking wars. And take a nanosecond to think about the mothers of all the troops you’ve used as fodder for your dreams of empire. Yeah, like you give a tinker’s damn….

I doubt that you’re even capable of imagining the kind of Mother’s Day they’re having, George. Life in your sociopathic bubble doesn’t allow for any reality or empathy, so let me clue you in.

Here are some of the numbers, George, if you can handle the math:

- Right now there are 24, 475 women deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and close to FORTY PERCENT of these women are mothers. To make it easier for you, - that comes to more than NINE THOUSAND women celebrating a dangerous and miserable Mother’s Day in your illegal and immoral debacle.

- For the record, as of April of this year, 85 women have lost their lives in your bloody quest for empire. It figures that some of them were, or might one day have become mothers. Surely most of them had mothers. Thanks to you, they won’t be celebrating any Mother’s Days ever again. Doesn’t that make you proud?

- And, again for the record, 474 women have been wounded in Iraq as of April, 2007. You don’t dare show us the severity of their wounds, but we can guess that many of these women have been left with massive wounds and missing limbs and emotional scars that they will last for many Mother’s Days to come. Doesn’t that bother you, even a little?

I’ll bet you didn’t know this about military mothers either, George:

According to a report today from the bi-partisan Joint Economic Committee, you’re short about 35,000 child care centers for military families. Nice going, George. You’ve also run short on resources for mental health service to help military mothers and their children. Isn’t that just special?

I suppose you were too busy planning your celebrations with Laura and Mama Bush to do anything about this, George. I know, you’ve had a rough couple of months and just couldn’t get around to it. Never mind, there’s always next year.

But, for just a second, George, imagine what today must be like for Cindy Sheehan and the other mothers who won’t get Mother’s Day cards from the sons and daughters who never came back from your horrible war. Can you do that?

There’s something so wrong with this picture, George. I haven’t even brought up the mothers in Iraq. That’s a whole other story that I’ll talk to you about another time. Right now, it’s Mother’s Day in the USA, George, and you’ve made it a tragic and devastating day for so many American mothers. I hope Laura and Mama Bush have as good a day as the other women I’ve told you about, George. It’s the least they can do.

After all, it’s been four Mother’s Days since you and your PNAC buddies lied us into this mess, George, and you’re all still clueless.

Judge Sentelle Strikes Again!

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

You really have to hand it to the man for being there when his party really needed him!  For more than three decades, he has bravely stepped forward to defend Republican administrations against the evils of the Constitution of the United States. And just days ago, in true form, and hiding behind the anonymity of time, Judge David Bryan Sentelle has done it again!

In case you missed it, Judge Sentelle just joined Judge A. Raymond Randolph in a 2-1 decision that should unnerve everyone who reads it.  Sitting on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the two men ruled that that hundreds of detainees in U.S. custody at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba do not have the right to challenge their imprisonment in federal courts.

In essence, George W. Bush and his cohorts can keep nearly 400 detainees caged in their Guantanamo prison indefinitely, with no charges, no access to counsel, and no way on earth to appeal their status or attempt to attempt to prove their innocence.

The ruling was based on the outrageous supposition that Guantanamo Bay prison is not US territory, and therefore excludes any claim of habeas corpus.  The two prevailing judges insist that Guantanamo is a leased property that falls under Cuban sovereignty.

So, move the prisoners to the US and restore their rights as human beings being held by the government of the United States of America. Yeah, right.

For the record, this decision is consistent with the political record Sentelle has compiled on the bench. Bear in mind that this protege of Sen. Jesse Helms was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina by President Ronald Reagan in 1985. He was appointed to his current position to replace Antonin Scalia in 1987.

So, was it any surprise that in 1989 Judge Sentelle (along with Laurence Silberman) voted to overturn the convictions of Oliver North and John Poindexter of Iran-Contra notoriety?  After all, Sentelle had served as chairman of the Mecklenburg County Republican Party in North Carolina and had been a Reagan delegate at the 1984 GOP convention.  Loyalty is, after all, loyalty.

Not long after, it was absolutely in character for Sentelle to appoint Kenneth Starr to replace Robert B. Fiske as lead independent council to investigate President Bill Clinton. So it is perfectly fitting that his ruling concerning the detainees so beautifully  supports the goals of George Bush’s neocon empire seekers.  Anything else would have been unthinkable.

Now bear in mind that the Bush administration recently fired and replaced seven U.S. attorneys, none of whom was charged with or guilty of wrongdoing.  Under an obscure provision of the Patriot Act, Bush has been able to transfer to the Justice Department a power that historically was confined to the federal district courts.  When this action was challenged by Democrats in the Senate, Republicans blocked a bill that would curb the Justice Department’s power to fire and replace federal prosecutors. Surprise, surprise.

Wonder, for a moment, why prosecutors loyal to the Bush administration are being placed in strategic federal positions?  Wonder, for another moment, how a law passed in the middle of the night without challenge now allows the president of the United States to use military troops as a domestic police force in response to a natural disaster, a disease outbreak, terrorist attack or to any “other condition.”

And then wonder who will be left to prosecute or sit in judgment of any crimes being committed by the Bush Crime Family? Poor Harriet Meyers, - she was supposed to protect her boss from her perch on the Supreme Court.  Not to worry, Justices Roberts and Alito will do the job with similar concerns for their patrons in the White House.

And the rest of us will be left to marvel at how none of this ever gets on the mainstream newscasts, and how few people even know what habeas corpus is all about.

So, let’s hear it again for the Judge Sentelles on our federal benches, and for the newly appointed, terribly loyal prosecutors who will place political loyalty over their oaths to uphold the integrity of the US Constitution. And let’s hear it for the laws that pass in the night and barely get noticed by the networks, and the powers that are increasingly being handed to the man in the White House.

Democracy rarely dies in a dramatic upheaval.  It is eroded by inches, as is happening even as we speak.  Are you frightened yet?  We are.

STOP HIM BEFORE HE KILLS MORE!

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

There is a serial killer living in the White House. He has spent the past six years successfully plotting the deaths of thousands upon thousands of people. Like others who kill without conscience, he remains unmoved by the ongoing bloodshed and destruction he has caused. And now, he is about to do it again.

Someone has to stop George W. Bush before he kills more!

Serial killers sometimes respond to inner voices telling them what to do. George Bush gets personal messages from his God and PNAC. His wars with Afghanistan and Iraq were planned and orchestrated by the war profiteers and ideologues who placed him into office in 2000. The regional chaos they needed to justify American military action in the region is going according to plan, and now the next stage is ready for launching. Any day now, the Bush Doctrine will be used to justify a killing machine that is gearing to attack Iran.

Someone has to stop him before he triggers a final Armageddon.

At TvNewsLIES.org, we believed this might happen before the last midterm election. We saw the handwriting on the proverbial wall, but were a bit early in our prediction. Right now, especially because George Bush is clearly denying that Iran is on his hit list, we are convinced that the plans are already in motion.

Every major corporate media outlet is reporting that there is ˜evidence” of Iran’s role in supplying sophisticated weapons to the Shia in Iraq, and in assisting in the killing of American troops. We’ve all been there and done that. Not a shred of evidence supporting those charges has been presented to the Congress or the public, but the rhetoric gets louder and louder. Iran’s nuclear capability is touted as a threat to the US and the region, despite the reality that any nuclear strike by any nation would result in its immediate annihilation. Logic has been buried, and terror threats have once again been broadcast to the public.

Someone has to stop him, and soon.

Dick Cheney, Chief Puppeteer and War Monger in the WH, recently stated that the President does NOT have to listen to Congress or the people of the nation. The Decider, it seems, can do whatever he pleases and the rest of us be damned. He does NOT have to listen to anyone at all, and that is becoming more and more obvious. This morning, three former military leaders issued a dire warning to George W. Bush…and he is not about to listen to them at all.

The letter was sent to the Sunday Times of London by retired Army Lt. Gen. Robert Gard, a former military assistant to Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Hoar, a former commander in chief of U.S. Central Command; and retired Navy Vice Adm. Jack Shanahan, a former director of the Center for Defense Information. These experienced and concerned officers warned that attacking Iran “would have disastrous consequences for security in the region, coalition forces in Iraq and would further exacerbate regional and global tensions.” They cautioned that “the current crisis must be resolved through diplomacy,” and they urged the President to “engage immediately in direct talks with the government of Iran without preconditions.”

Did you hear about this on your network news today, or did you hear discussion after discussion about Iran’s role in aiding the insurgency and the danger of its nuclear program?

The fears of these three men, like the advice of the Baker-Hamilton Iraq Group, are being ignored. as were the voices of those who warned against the tragic and failed war against Iraq. Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Syria all are on the PNAC hit list that would supposedly lead to American military domination of the Middle East. The plans were set in rapid motion when these madmen got their “new Pearl Harbor” on September 11th, 2001. And here they go again.

The serial killer we know as George W. Bush was installed in the White House to do exactly what he is doing now. He is on the loose and about to strike again.

He has to be stopped before he kills more. He has to be stopped quickly and legally.

Whatever that takes.
