Send your mindless wrong-wingers to this article I just found: Purpose of a Democracy. That should provide them a good shock to the system.

Jesse, I don't think you even read my comments, but let me fill you in as to what you're up against: People are so pathologically and contemptibly stupid that they cannot--yes, STILL, cannot--look past the name of their party, and see what the members of the party are actually doing. Yes, I'm talking about idiot Republicans.

As an example, I argued with one particular Republican, wrong-winged freak about the warrantless wiretap issue. I temporarily forgot that I was talking to an idiot who was immune to logic, and kept going on about the legalities. I also quoted the Fourth Amendment. The wrong-winger replied by saying that, shucks, "The Fourth Amendment only protects against UNREASONABLE searches and seizures. It's not 'unreasonable' to wiretap people to track terrorists, so therefore there's nothing wrong with warrantless wiretaps!"

What the hell are you or I going to do to combat stupidity of this magnitude? We're pissing in the wind, my friend.
