American Press: Football More Important than the US Constitution

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

On the day that the U.S. Attorney General resigned in the midst of scandal the American establishment media focused most of their attention on a vile heartless football player who liked to watch dogs rip each other to pieces. This is not what the framers had in mind when they chose one vocation to protect in the Constitution.

Any time you want to see the criminal information control mechanism known as the establishment media, dune in to Larry King on CNN and see what important topic is being covered. Then try and figure out how these people keep straight faces as they talk about trivial issues on a news channel while the most important issues in the world get zero exposure.

Have you declared the establishment media to be your enemy yet? I have. Think about it!

George W. Bush and Black Holes!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

By Reggie, Contributing Editor, TvNewsLIES.org

Most of us don’t know a helluva lot about black holes, and probably don’t really care to know very much about them. But in truth, black holes are really fascinating once you take a closer look, even to a lay person with not much background. Trust me on that for a bit.

For starters, what I do know is that a black hole is an area out in space that’s so huge that its gravitational pull is astounding. So, astounding, in fact, that nothing, absolutely nothing that gets close can escape being sucked into it. That means everything, no matter how massive, would be able to escape its pull and nothing we know could move fast enough to draw away from its gravitational power. Not even a beam of light.

Stay with me here and you’ll see where I’m going.

One more interesting bit: According to Einstein, objects of very great mass distort time and space so that the usual rules of geometry just can’t be used to explain their behavior. So, when it comes to a black hole, something strange happens. It has a boundary that’s very unusual. If you reached that boundary, you could pass through it, but you would not be able to back out. In fact, once you’ve passed through the boundary you’d be doomed to move closer and closer to the center of the black hole.

And then it would only be a very short time until you die.

Now, that’s all fairly interesting, but why would I want to write about black holes at all? Stay with me just a little bit longer, I promise to connect.

For the record, and just in case you do happen to get pulled into a black hole, rest assured that you wouldn’t really feel anything terribly unusual at first. If the hole was a really big one, you wouldn’t be torn apart until you were about half a million kilometers from the center. Imagine that. Even as you were being pulled towards certain doom you might not suspect that anything was terribly wrong.

I suppose, when it comes to black holes, in a way, bigger is better.

And in a way, a really big black hole has formed right here on earth, and right here in the good old USA. And in a most precarious way, we all are dangerously close to the boundary from which there is no return. For in an undeniable and almost inevitable way there is a direct nexus between a barely discernible black hole in our own land and the reign of George W. Bush.

For the sake of simplicity, let’s call it the Bush Black Hole and understand that we can’t see into its abyss because black holes are devoid of light. But if we take a look around, we become painfully aware of the things that have disappeared from our lives in the past seven years, never ever to be seen again. Some vanished in secret while others were tossed into the chasm with arrogant disregard of all that we once were as a nation.

No matter how it came to pass, so much of value has crossed a mysterious boundary into the oblivion of the Bush Black Hole. Tragically, much of what has disappeared has not yet been missed by so many Americans. They don’t have a clue that so much that was so vital to their lives has been hauled forever into the bowels of this administration.

So many Americans are still unaware that the Bush Black Hole contains the dismembered remains of:

-Elections free of Supreme Court interference

-Congressional oversight

-Separation of church and state

-An impartial investigation of the events of 9/11

-Checks and balances

-The right of dissent without fear

-The Fourth Amendment

-Habeas corpus

-A responsible White House Press Corps

-Respect of the US by people around the world

-New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast

-Respect for international treaties

-Rejection of pre-emptive or preventive war

-The Geneva Conventions

-International Law

- Truth and integrity in government

-Diplomacy and cooperation with other nations

-Investigative reporting by mainstream media

-Environmental protections

-The FISA Court

-Protection of covert CIA operatives

-Nuclear disarmament and non proliferation

-An overburdened and under equipped military

-Almost four thousand American and coalition troops

-Hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghanis

-Fiscal responsibility

-America’s middle class

-Health care for all children

-A nation free of PNAC control

-Democracy

And that, as the saying goes, is the short list. But not to worry, there’s lots of room in the Bush Black Hole for more. Black holes are notoriously immense and George W. Bush, with his dreams of empire, has more time to carry out his goals than you might think.

A recent Presidential Directive has given the Bush administration full power to transfer control of this nation from the Congress and place it into the hands of the White House. Another such directive gives this President the right to declare martial law when and if he deems it necessary. Every day the drums of war beat more loudly for an attack against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran. Do the math.

Then try to assess just how close we all are to the boundary that separates us from the Bush Black Hole. We already have lost so much that is totally irretrievable. If we endure as a free nation and as a free people we might recreate what we have lost one day in the future. But right now we are in a fight for survival.

Understand that it is possible to enter a black hole with no sensation of the destructive force about to be encountered. Passing the boundary can be relatively uneventful and temporarily comfortable. But once over the line there is no way to retreat, and the fate of all who pass the boundary is forever sealed.

And so it has come to pass in the Bush administration that they have acted with impunity and hubris in a terrorized nation and an intimidated world. They have not been stopped nor will anyone stop them any time soon. And, like the children who followed the Pied Piper to the river, so many Americans are walking willingly towards the Black Hole that George Bush has created.

The choice, then, is clear. We can work to make others aware of the dangers they still do not see. We can direct others to the truth of what has happened and shake them out of their passivity and blindness. Or, as happens to so many bodies in space that unwittingly find themselves heading directly towards the boundaries from which they will never escape, we can just do nothing but sit back and enjoy the ride.

One Word for All of You China Product Bashers: Cigarettes!

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

As America continues it’s relentless mission to push the limits of hypocrisy in every area from human rights to personal or national security, the recent spate of attacks on Chinese made products by the American glass-house-living, stone throwing establishment media serves as another example of how American hypocrisy seems to have no limits.

Let us for a moment forget about the healthy and safe contributions to our air, water and DNA altered food supply our American corporations have made. Forget for a moment about the mercury in your autistic child’s American made vaccine or the hormones, antibiotics or rocket fuel in your American cow produced milk, and forget about the poison pouring into our rivers from our American manufacturing plants. Forget for a moment about the new laws pushed through by the Bush administration reversing the efforts to reduce the amount of mercury and other poisons being pumped into your air by coal burning power plants. Let’s just think about one product made predominantly by American companies and sold around the world by American companies. That one product: cigarettes.

Think about this…cigarettes are the only product ever permitted to be produced and sold, virtually unregulated, that when used as directed will kill you. It is the only legal product that will, with every use, not only cause harm to the user but with cause harm to and all people within air traveling distance from the user.

I have seen American people yell and scream and throw tantrums when any discussions about their right to smoke are even discussed. I, as an asthma sufferer have had to tip toe around the over sensitivities of people who care not about the harm they do to those around us while they exercise their right to make use of the deadly harmful product known as the cigarette. These same people are now bashing the Chinese because they produced cheap toys and cheap food that may not be as safe as they should be. Oh, is there even a word to describe the magnitude of American hypocrisy?

If Americans want to address the problems posed by dangerous products they may want to start with American products. Americans don’t even want to keep their kids safe from cigarettes, what makes them want to protect them from toys? Think about it!

Jesse’s Law: You Start a War, You Lead the Way

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

You want peace? You want corporate war profiteer CEO’s and members of their families to stop lying us into wars? Here is the answer: You make it a law that any politician who votes or orders troops into combat outside our borders must pick up a weapon and lead the battle from the deepest penetration point on the battlefield.

Come on Cheney…maybe you can shoot something other than helpless captive farm birds…and the faces of your so called friends! Maybe we’ll see how IED proof your SUV is!

I introduce this law. Do I hear a second? Think about it!

Laws Exist to Protect Citizens, Not Politicians

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Let’s not mince words here…the Patriot Act, the DOMESTIC spying program, the Justice Department firings and many recent strategic decisions by Congress and the Bush administration were not designed or implemented with your safety in mind. These things exists for one reason and one reason only, to prevent the citizens of this nation from preventing, stopping pr punishing the people in positions of power from abusing their power.

As a matter of fact many of the new “post 9/11” laws and executive orders were designed specifically to prevent the citizens of this nation from even finding out about abuses of power. Let’s not fool ourselves, none of of us are safer in any way shape or form due to the legal post 9/11 posturing of the US government establishment. As a matter of fact we are in more danger than ever and that danger stems from threats posed by people who abuse power.

As my fellow Americans snooze through the dismantling of our Constitution what is taking place is very simple…it is a systematic implementation of a totalitarian dictatorship. Unfortunately the only time many people won’t stop ridiculing me for pointing this out until it is to late to do anything about it. Actually I wonder how we can fix this problem now, even if everyone took notice. But as each day passes without public action the remedy for this problem becomes more difficult, and dangerous…if you know what I mean. Think about it!

The Minds of Musicians

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I have often said that comedians are the most brilliant people on Earth for they are able to see the obvious; the insanity in our world. I also say that songwriters are brilliant in their own way for they have answers to many of our ills. It’s funny; I look at it like this…comedians can sure spot all the problems and songwriters seem to be able to solve all of the problems. I guess that makes Al Yankovic just about the smartest guy on Earth. OK, maybe not; but you get my drift.

Interestingly enough I have been the class clown just about my entire life. Believe it or not when I am not “educating” people or tackling the serious issues of the world I am usually cracking up crowds, be they in an office or at a family gathering. I am also a musician, although not much of a lyricist. Perhaps if I put down the guitar and wrote some lyrics I would give Al Yankovic something to worry about.

Though the years I have identified blocks of lyrics in popular music that I feel have very powerful messages. There have been a few artists or groups that have particularly impressed me with their ability to speak the truth and say it like it is. Groups like the Clash & the Police come to mind, not to mention John Lennon. Brittney Spears is not on my list; just in case you were wondering.

Anyway, I have been a fan of the Police (the musical group), for quite a while. I was fortunate enough to see them play in concert this weekend. The world has changed since the last time I got to see them play so as I watched them this time I got a little more out of the experience. As usual I marveled at Sting’s voice, Andy Summers’ impossible chording and Stewart Copeland’s remarkable one man percussion section. But this time the lyrics had a bigger impact on me than the music. One song in particular hit me hard and as soon as I heard it, or I should say remembered it, I knew I would be writing about it.

Anyway…here is today’s newsletter, in the form of a song written in 1980…and let me tell you it speaks louder today than it did back then!

“Driven To Tears”

How can you say that you’re not responsible?
What does it have to do with me?
What is my reaction, what should it be?
Confronted by this latest atrocity

Driven to tears
Driven to tears
Driven to tears

Hide my face in my hands, shame wells in my throat
My comfortable existence is reduced to a shallow meaningless party
Seems that when some innocent die
All we can offer them is a page in a some magazine
Too many cameras and not enough food
‘Cos this is what we’ve seen

Driven to tears
Driven to tears
Driven to tears

Protest is futile, nothing seems to get through
What’s to become of our world, who knows what to do

Driven to tears

Think about it!
