Although I am in no way suggesting that America has a national journalism entity, the Foley situation clearly represents the potential power of the media when it comes to holding our elected officials accountable for their actions. Here we have a situation where the power structure protected itself and the only thing that broke that wall of secrecy was the media.
That is why journalism exists. We would be in good shape if they addressed all the crimes being committed by our government…or even perhaps just a few!   Think about it!
I just wish we could get at least this much outrage over the double travesties of Iraq and Afghanistan.
