She's at 125 right now but... and that's a mighty big butt... but, they say she may strengthen even more... into a... dare I say it...

a cat 4 hurricane...

I'll make an uneducated purrdiction right now... there will be another major hurricane BEFORE August...

and the rethugs say there's no such thing as global warming...

well, she went to a Cat 4 overnight but.... has started a reorganization of her eyewall and has dropped back down to a cat 3... so... keep your guard up and continue to prepare for yet another land falling hurricane...

They predict that this one will miss Florida... so... Texans should be on alert right now and streaming to their local lumber yard for this that and the other thing... hopefully they have already restocked the minor essentials in their emergency kits and only have to get the big stuff...

Y'all be safe now, ya heah?

Unfortunately, the remnants go through here, and I live in a swamp.

Not fun.

As stripy says, got ark?

ok, Emily has come ashore and has weakened into a Tropical Depression... What next?

Well, there appears to be a depression developing near the Bahamas... perhaps the first tropical system for the east coast is on tap... we must just watch and wait... and watch some more... and there's a patch of convection east of Honduras too...

Western Atlantic Water Vapor Loop

Got stocked emergency kit?

well the Hurricane Hunters found circulation and organization so what we have there in the Bahamas is Tropical Depression Six with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph... Should Six strengthen into a Tropical Storm, he will be Franklin...

East coast? Y'all best pay attention and if you haven't yet... it's time to stock your emergency kit...

the other streak that continues is that there has been either a Tropical Storm OR a Hurricane in the Atlantic Basin every day since July 5... that's 18 days and counting... thanks to Tropical Storm Franklin...

Franklin isn't going anywhere fast... seems like he's just kinda waiting for a steering wind to come along...

For those of us that are unaware, the G-storm will be Gert... AND there's a good chance it will be Gert on Sunday as there is yet another Tropical Depression that has formed in the Bay of Campeche...

Tropical Depression #7 Advisory #1

Franklin looks to be moving into the Atlantic but after watching Jeanne's antics last year... anything is possible AND Franklin currently has wind speeds of 70 mph, so he could conceivably become a hurricane too...

Tropical Storm Franklin Advisory #10

Your Eye In The Sky

Now is a good time to stock your emergency kit...

Ok... we had TS Gert and he has already impacted Mexico coming ashore almost as soon as he got named... depositing copious amounts of rainfall into areas already hard hit by Emily...

Good gravy Stripey, these storms are overpopulating! And moving quickly--we are up to G already and it isn't the end of July yet.

Good thing there is no global warming or we could be in trouble.

I just heard that it's been downsized to a tropical depression with winds to 35 mph. BUT it is forecast to dump upwards of 8-12" of rain and cause serious flooding. 8-12 " is a lot of rain. And I live in an area where rain pours sometimes for months. We never get that amount in one storm, even if it goes on for a month. It usually is a drizzle to a light rain at most. Seldom a downpour. Ditto to what Dori said. Good thing global warming is just a communist conspiracy threat!

I am starting to chew my nails when Stripey puts another post on here.

If we have a winter like we have had a summer, oy vey.

Although, believe it or not, just south of us they have had loads of rain but we are dry as dust. Crops are suffering. Farmers will be too at this rate.

We have two seasons now--too wet and too dry.
