We had a really severe thunderstorm in our area last evening...lots of tree and sign damage. A severe storm the evening before hit a small town about 12 miles away, while jumping over my neighborhood with just intermittant power outages. Several large white pine trees had to be removed from the highway.

AND our electricity was out for over 7 hours last evening. Lots of straight line winds, severe lightning, heavy, heavy rains, and hail about the size of a quarter...the speed with which it turned from just a summer thunderboomer to one of severity was amazing. One minute I'm in my garden, enjoying the flowers and watching the beautiful clouds that were boiling up, and the next, I'm getting inside pronto!

I hope you transferred those ice cylinders from your freezer to the fridge to help keep the cool...

One of the things they have said will occur with global warming is more storms with higher intensity... I think we are beginning to see that happen...

when winter comes here up north, i'm going to count on you stripey to be my forcaster for snow storms. most aren't too bad for us, but it's the noreasters that cause the most problem...they blow over the lake and dump tons of snow.
