the tiger strides up to the podium, he turns and lightly taps on the edge of it with his tail... he begins to speak...

I am going to be your weather tiger. We will periodically examine various satellites I have come across in my pursuit of seeing what goes on above us.

One of my favorite sets of satellite loops are provided by GOES. I like to access the water vapor loops because they show the shapes of the clouds and aren't as prone to false readings as the IR satts are.

I have no metereological training. None. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Naaaaaaaaaadaaaaa... All I do is observe the satellites and speculate about what is going to happen.

It's fun.

I also watch the weather channel rather than regular programming (no propaganda) and will relay important information I hear as often as I can.

I look forward to serving you and sharing the view...

Left Coast WV Loop

Please make note of that spiral in the upper right corner of the map. Imagine real spin. And there it is. Real spin. :D

oooooooooooooowheeeeee... looky that moisture stream into the midwest. They call that a sub tropical moisture plume. if you live anywhere in the mid west, I'd say it's time to get out your umbrella, and dust off your sand bags... maybe see if you can find the plans to that ark...

Lower Left Coas WV Loopt

This one will show us the origins of that moisture plume. This area has been purrrculating for months and that looks like it will purrrsist for a few days, doesn't it.

Ok Stripey, how about the right coast you may well ask...

Right Coast WV Loop

 A double spiral? That'll mean big waves on the right coast and that also means rip currents... so IF you live on the right coast...

STAY OUT OF THE WATER!

Ohhh... one more small thing... please... start looking up.... when those jets go by and leave their trails high in the sky....... watch and make sure they dissipate.

Carry your digital camera everywhere you go. When the trails hang in the sky. Take a picture.

oh oh oh oh... :D I have been looking for a polar satellite loop as I would love to see the top of the world in motion... anybody know of one?

Let's have some fun, shall we?

:D

Stripey, check these out. One of these should have what you're looking for.

http://www.skypoint.com/~benhuset/wx.htm

http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/(Gh)/wx/home.rxml

http://rsd.gsfc.nasa.gov/goes/text/geonews.html

http://www.goes.noaa.gov/

http://www.wmo.ch/hinsman/imagery.html

surely you have Skywarn but how about http://www.skywarn.de/ ??

or http://www.tordach.org/ which has a lot of good links. Never mind the language barrier. Trial and error should suffice.

Sorry I don't have the time to search thru all of these to find one showing the world from the top....but I'm certain it's in there somewhere. J

Okay, Bush lied, I lied. Came across this https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/PUBLIC/ slide down to Satellite and select North Pole. I'm not getting the SAT images from there so will keep looking. Let's try NOAA-12 ....chanels 1, 3 and 4 :
http://www.cira.colostate.edu/Special/C ... 16gac0.htm

Nope, that silly SAT is flying the wrong way.

maybe http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Missio ... a/ModisDB/ ??

Na, that aint it. But this one http://www.goes.noaa.gov/f_g9.html should come in handy when the asteroid hits. This one http://www.osei.noaa.gov/ is one of my all time favorites. I like the Unique Imagery part. Might be something for you.

then they are called.... chemtrails... and when you point them out to others as such... YOU will be labeled a crackpot conspiracy theorist too, when in all actuality, what you will be is an interested observer...

There are lots of them and we have a dedicated thread herein for you to post it on...

but one of my favs is by a TV weatherman in Idaho... he has lots of pictures and descriptions of what the clouds look like and what they are SUPPOSED to look like but don't... he also has some far out theories about what and why... but...

I just observe them and try to stay away from the tinfoil hat theories...

Here's his site:

Weatherwars

edit: fixed link...

Here's TD 5... not to be confused with Mambo 5 which was, IMO, a lot more fun...

Eastern Atlantic Water vapor Loop
