Most of North Carolina is under a winter storm warning for late tonight and tomorrow. I hope to see a few inches of the white stuff when I awaken in the morning. It's been awhile since any significant snow fell near me, so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...but hold the ice, please. I don't want a power failure! :P

Yes, that is ice--beautiful but deadly.

I spent most of the winter wishing it would snow. We were half way through January before we had any 'winter'.

Good luck on your snow, Catherine.

Gorgeous "goose feather" snowflakes fell for about two hours, beginning early Thursday morning. I popped out of bed about 7 am to awaken my sleeping husband to tell him that snow was actually, finally falling. While I piled on the play in the snow clothes, he mumbled that he was going to sleep a bit longer. My husband didn't appreciate the snow like I did. He was in Wyoming recently doing cross-country skiing so he'd seen all the snow he wanted to see. I hurried outside, made sure the birds' feeders were full, and walked all around the hill, especially in among the Leyland Cypress trees. A snowfall makes those stately evergreens look like they've been piled high with marshmallow cream. They grow close together on our hill and a walk through them when it snows is like being in a true Winter Wonderland.

We got about three inches in all, but it was all gone by mid-day due to the temps rising and the snow changing to rain. Today, all the snow is gone.

Now we've just got fog, cold, cold wind, ....and mud.

Aint that the truth. Weve been getting tons of lake effect stuff the past 2 weeks however.

If I had known you needed some fluffy "goose feathers" out your way, Catherine.... I would have taken the opportunity to deliver you a ton of the winter's misery. This winter here in midwest has been nothing short of the "devils" work. We had 14" of snow in early December, and two weeks ago we had 5" of sleets and freezing rain mix, which never melted, and yesterday, it came another 4 " of snow on top of all that.

So, let me know how much of our miserable winter H2O you need, and I'll point it in your direction..

Thanks, Skeeter! Send all the snow you want, but no ice, please. It tends to make the electricity go off.

Sorry to hear that your winter has been so bad...but that's not unusual for Kansas, is it? I'm sure you miss those warm Florida winter days when you could head out to open sea and fish to your heart's content.
