I hail from sunny Southern California where the torrential downpour of the past few days have caused numerous mudslides due to the recent fires in the area. Go figure. At first, I was praising the firemen for all their hard work and diligence, until I found out that a private contractor would "guarantee" your home wouldn't burn down if you promised to pay them $15,000 or so up front. That's called meeting the Class War up front and personal.

Anyway, I saw this forum and thought I'd check it out. I have a small one myself and I'm always looking for the story behind the story. I figured you guys may be able to help me out in that regard.

Peace, love and cold french fries (the updated hippy salute for the new millennium).

This sounds like a step toward libertarianism. Thier platform calls for the dissolution of public fire departments. All such public services would be privatized on the model of our current health care system. Only the well-to-do would be able to protect their homes, educate their children , ect. This plan is now being tested in New Orleans, where the homes of poor people are being bulldozed and the land is being sold to private developers. Also, nearly the entire public school system there is being replaced by private schools.

Interesting...it also sounds like the viewpoints of a a long-gone member who called himself shane who loved to expound on the wonderful platform of libertarianism, especially that of Ron Paul. Anybody who has been here for any length of time will remember shaney...and his many guises.

How about a link to that website of yours, toeg? We might allow it to be PLUGGED in the PLUGS forum.

Sorry for the delay,

I've been busy on the other forum for some time now. You can go here to see the forum:

http://beyond.euskalaretoa.com/belief/YaBB.pl

Or you can go here to see our front page and see some of our works. I've done a few talks on important topics under the name the Toeg Effect Plus:

http://beyond.euskalaretoa.com/

Our premise is to keep abreast of the main stories around the world plus a little humor and music mixed in for effect. Most of the members are from Europe, so there is definitely an old continent feel about it (for example, football = soccer and gridiron = American football)

Thanks Catherine,

It's a nice place to keep all my topics well segregated. I can trace back important threads as well.
