I remember back in 1994 - 1996 Montel did a few shows on this topic. A number of Gulf War Veterans were coming back to the USA with all kinds of "illnesses" that the military (at that time) could not explain, did not want to explain or brushed aside.
One couple in particular (husband was a soldier in the Gulf War) came on the show and the wife (in graffic terms) described how it was painful to have sex with her husband because aftewards she has to shower IMMEDIATELY because where ever his ejaculate is on her body after sex (inside vagina, between legs, "other places") she has to wash it off or it will burn her. She talked about burns all over her body and how they felt like someone poured acid on her. The doctors (at that time) told both of them they had no explanation for what might be causing this and the military eventually blamed him and told him it was all probably "in his mind".
Just after 2000, the military finally acknowledged "Gulf War Syndrome" is real. I can't recall if they cited a cause for it (ie the "experimental and untested" vaccine given to soldiers to protect them against chemical weapons that some refused to take or if it was cause by the depleted uranium or something else).
