Yesterday, we lost a great man, David Hackworth. I had the honor of meeting Mr. Hackworth over 15 years ago. My mother happens to be a friend of his wife, Eilhys England. The few times I met him, I thought he was a sweet, kind man - but I had no knowledge of who he was.
It wasn't until we were on the verge of entering into the illegal war in Iraq that I became aware of who Mr. Hackworth was and what he believed in. Unlike Bush, David Hackworth fought in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He died of bladder cancer, which he believed was associated with his exposure to Agent Orange and Agent Blue while he was in Vietnam.
