With what we've witnessed from the likes of Bob Allen, David Vitter, Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, etc., maybe "family values" really means this:

You can have your wife, and family, and screw around, so long as when you are caught screwing around, you beg for forgiveness from god or jesus.

I think there's something there for every man or woman that's thought of cheating and feared the retribution and humiliation. All will be forgiven, so long as you pray for your sins (and you're not gay).

Yes, Family Values has become a mockery of, well, family values.

When someone with an 'only me all the time' attitude acts out their true values, actual family values fly out the window.

So much for hard-and-fast morality.

Fundies should just admit to themselves and their opponents that they have a sliding scale of morality, where they will take the lesser of multiple evils, so long as the right one makes the closest pitch to their screwed -up sense of "values".

CZ, that pretty much sums up family values, but not war.

War comes under the heading of 'money' though, doesn't it...

I guess I was stretching the meaning of "value" to its economic sense, in that -- "value added", or as Pat Summerall might say, to its "True Value".

Maybe, we should develop a law where we would need to apply for a permit for war. And one of the center pieces of information that we would need to show up front is the "Valuation".

So, Mr. Bush, you say your war is valued at upwards of $300 billion. I think your "plans" are a little skimpy on details. And I think you need to revise them such that there's no demolition of anything, and that you've maximized the safety aspect, so that no one dies or is maimed.

Plus, I think you need better architects. These guys you're relying on are going by some way outed "code" (of justice).

And your contractors, Blackwater, are on the government's shit list.

And if you can't get buy-in from the world community at the various public comments, you will not get passed "go".
