Hello all. I set this forum up so that you can talk about anything you want. I figured we can use this to vent :argue: about anything, or just share our thoughts. :bs:

Chat away!

Hello, everyone...I'll start a topic in what I hope will become a place rather like a lounge...a quiet, dimly lit place where we can sit back and relax with a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and enjoy knocking around a lot of different topics.

For starters, I'm curious as to how everyone arrived at TVNL. How did you find out about the site?

I found TVNL in May of 2004, when I was looking around another political chatboard. Someone had posted a reference to Being a curious sort, I checked it out, I was amazed at all the site had to offer..the quality of the editorials, the smiles section, as well as the great news links...and decided to register and respond to a few topics.

Who's next? :D

Well...I found the site when I created it!!!

I was sitting on my couch (March 2003) frustrated about how CNN was leaving out so much information and historical context as they helped build public support for invading Iraq. So I got off my couch and in 2 1/2 hours I launced a personal website to explain how they do it. One of my articles got a lot of attention so I decided to launch a real site.

A month later (4/11/2003) I launched

1 3/4 years later and 3 million visits to my site I am!

Thank you for the kind words!!! we can have some coffee...or a beer!!! :occasion5:

By the way...I added a bunch of new site styles. You can try them out by editing your profile. A style like DustyGreen may help set the mood for this loung!!!

I'll drink to the beer addition! How about a margarita or a pina colada now and then? AND some good wine, too.

I was invited by Catherine and am honored to be here among all.

Just received this precious note from a dear friend today. She counts her blessings and prays for all our troops, everywhere, and those who are no longer with us. She also remembers those of us who have served in the past, and been lucky enough to survive the horrors of war.

I, too, have learned.

Proud to be your Friend!

Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence, and don't

I've learned....
That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the
end, the
faster it goes.

I've learned....
That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned....
That money doesn't buy class.

I've learned....
That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned...
That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated

I've learned....
That the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?

I've learned....
That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I've learned....
That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that
person continue to hurt you.

I've learned....
That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned...
That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself
people smarter than I am.

I've learned....
That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I've learned....
That there's nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling
their breath on your cheeks.

I've learned....
That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I've learned....
That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

I've learned...
That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned....
That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned...
That I wish I could have told those I cared about that I love them one
time before they passed away.

I've learned....
That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow
he may
have to eat them.

I've learned....
That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I've learned....
That I can't choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.

I've learned....
That when your newly born child holds your little finger in his little
that you're hooked for life.

I've learned....
That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the
and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

I've learned ...
That it is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is
requested and when it is a life threatening situation.

I've learned....
That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

To all of you ... Make sure you read all the way down to the last

It's National Friendship Week. Show your friends how much you care.
this to everyone you consider a FRIEND, even if it means sending it
back to
the person who sent it to you. If it comes back to you, then you'll
know you
have a circle of friends.

Johnmccarthy, consider that email sent back to you. And to all the members here, but John is the one who brought it here.

Jesse, I love the reason you are here! Great sense of humor. Life goes better that way--and starting to fight back instead of waiting while the news continues to lie to us is a VERY good way to live. I wish it were catching.

I, too, was invited here. I love the place. You have done a great job Jesse.

I found the site back around Dec. 03 while googling for political material. I stayed through the crash and have watched it grow tremendously.

I think it's nice to come across familiar names at different boards that we know to be friendly.

I found this site posted in a link at another forum and have made several referrals since. There are people there that actually have no idea pertaining to the goings on in this world, like about the FDA, 911, the Bush-it admin, etc. I've been called an idiot, a troll, a childs mentality, and other names I won't say since swearing only proves they lack skills to find a better word.

I'd like to know if I can have Jesse's permission to quote his comments regarding the links I receive in my E-Mail. He gets the credit for writing it of course, plus I'll post the link that refers to his comments. I don't know if his comments are copy-righted so I'm asking his permission.

I love it here, wish it was more active though. My only problem ('only' being debateable) is that I'm a bit ADD, and this site has so much to read, so much to learn and I have so little time and so much to learn!
