To weed, or clear of weeds, with a hoe.

I am going to sarcle the flower beds today.

My family loves to get together and play games. One of our favorites is Balderdash. Sarcle was one of the words given that we all laughed at the definitions that each other gave. I have always remembered that one. My brother-in-law said, "I am going to sarcle 'round the barn to take a pee." We all died laughing!

:D :) :lol:

Nearly fell off my chair!

My dad used to use a sickle to cut long grass, but I never heard of sarcle.

And I have no idea what MR. DUCKS is about.

WHAT? :shock: :D :lol:

NEVER heard of it!

But I can see the play on words....sounds like language a few of my students used to use! :lol:

My husband's family are very much into games. At the last family reunion, which lasted a week, we all gathered from around the country in Harrisonburg, VA. We played many games, with Charades being the favorite.

Try this:

Mental Flexibility and Creativity

7=W. of the W.

1,001=A.N.

12=S. of the Z.

54=C.in a D. (with a J.)

9=P.in the S.S.

88=P.K.

32=D.F.at W.F.

13=S.on the A.F.

18=H.on a G.C.

90=D.in a R.A.

200= D. for P.G. in M.

8=S. on a S.S.

3=B.M. (S.H.T.R.)

4=Q. in a G.

24=H. in a D.

I=W.on a U.

5=D.in a Z.C.

57=H.V.

11=P. on F.T.

7=W. of the W.

1,001=A.N.

12=S. of the Z. signs of the Zodiac

54=C.in a D. (with a J.) cards in a deck

9=P.in the S.S. planets in the solar system

I am going to stop and leave some for the others (although I don't know all of them). I have done this with my students. I love stuff like this!

7=Wonders of the World

Here's a math game:

Use a calculator or paper:

1. Choose a secret number between 10 and 100

2. Add 95

3. Cross off the numeral in the hundreds place

4. Add the digit you crossed off

5. Add 4

6. The resulting number should be your original secret number

Here's another one: IT CAN'T BE 7!

(I used to do this one with my students. I'd put on a Cat in the Hat hat. Then, I'd tell them before we began that I knew the resulting number would be 7 because I had magical powers when I wore The Hat!

1. Write a number.

2. Add 9

3. Double the new number

4. Subtract 4

5. Divide the new number by 2

6.Subtract the number you originally chose. With no errors, 7 is the answer.

To make the answer always be 5, instead of adding 9 in Step 2, Substitute "Add 7." The answer will always be 5.

4=Q. in a G. 4 Quarts in a Gallon

24=H. in a D. 24 hours in a day

11=P. on F.T. 11 people on a football team

That was all I got. Man, I am really bad at this. I am further over the hill than I realized.

You guys are GOOD! :D

Sadie, you probably do those funny activities with your students called WORDLES. I LOVED those things, and the kids would beg for them to be placed in their free time centers. I always obliged!

I don't miss the pressure of teaching, but I do miss the kids and all of the fun things we used to do everyday. BUT not enough to go back, even though my area has several vacancies for the upcoming school year. 8)

Yes, I am always looking for fun things to do with the kids. I am a collector of games and I believe many things can be taught and mastered through games. Learning can be fun!
