How many of you fall within that average amount as you shop and buy those holiday gifts? I'm interpreting that $835.00 quote also as not to include the amount we spend on extra food items we might not otherwise buy. Then there are the holiday travel plans and special clothing purchases for that special party or gathering.

I've spent about $40. I am very poor and would probably spend a bit more, if I could. But in my opinion, that much spending (at least for me) is irresponsible. That is a month's worth of bill payments to me. Plus, I'm the kind of crafty person that loves to make things and I try to really pay attention all year and do what someone most wants, but never thinks to ask for as a present.
