KING GEORGE AND THE REPUBLICAN LAW
by Paul Siegel
Quote:
King George is the most compassionate practitioner of divine law, that is, law that guards people doing good and destroys individuals doing evil. He has no trouble defining good and evil since he is instructed directly by God. Members of the Bush Administration, as well as other loyal Republicans, are good, by definition. Democrats and assorted other people who oppose the King’s benign policies are evil. Some people call this Republican Law.
Among the many good things Republican Law has brought us are Guantanamo Bay, torture of prisoners, and warrantless spying on Americans. And now, King George has come to the rescue of that prince of goodness Scooter Libby. Though nominally a Republican, prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald acted as a Democrat, to build a false case against the honorable and upright Libby. Judge Walton, another Republican acting as a Democrat, sentenced Libby to 30 months in jail. Our lovable King commuted the sentence to a fine and probation.
When this business with Valerie Plame exploded in September of 2003, King George said:
If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is . . . If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of.
Of course, he was referring to Republican Law. I must admit Republican Law is slightly different from what other people call law. Here is how a commenter on a Democratic-oriented site called TPM misunderstands:
Under Bush, some people are imprisoned forever without due process of law while others who receive due process of law and are found guilty are set free.
What else would you expect from someone who has no inkling about Republican Law?
