but, i held my ground and mentioned that the media also plays a big role in racism in america by their slanted reporting. one guy defended AFP's photo and caption by saying that there was food supposedly floating from a nearby grocery store and he "assumed" they "found" the food they are shown with.....sheesh

Yes, I read that the photographer used that excuse when defending his caption. Bullshit! Racist right-wing regressives might be stupid enough to believe that tripe (or maybe they just want to believe it), but I didn't just fall off the goddamn applecart!

Three very popular items taken by looters were - pampers, water and food. One can't really understand looting when they see it reported on the tube. (I'm not saying it is the right thing to do.) Most people watching the reports from afar can get up from their easy chair and run out and buy what they need. When one has to live through a disaster situation, things can change fast. In a panic situation, one never knows what one might do. How far would one of us go to feed our kids and etc. I don't think anyone can really say we wouldn't do the same in a disastrous or panic situation. Race / color wouldn't mean squat when it come to feeding the kids and etc..
