As the article mentions: "Move over, Tankini. Since the full-coverage swimsuit dubbed the Burqini (as in burqa plus bikini) hit the international market in January, devout Muslim women have been snapping them up."

Move over, Tankini. Since the full-coverage swimsuit dubbed the Burqini (as in burqa plus bikini) hit the international market in January, devout Muslim women have been snapping them up. The polyester suits were designed to accord with Islamic laws that require women to dress modestly and to eliminate the risk of drowning when the yards of fabric used in traditional burqas get soaked. Now, however, non-Muslim beachgoers are getting into the full-covered swim. Whether women are worried about health, weight or the tolls of age, the Burqini offers a comfortable alternative to a skimpy two-piece or clingy maillot.
...

Yep, there's probably a ton of jokes about what trendy muslim men will allow their ladies to wear on the beach, and all that. And man, if the woman in the pic is a lifeguard, she must tread water something aweful, but --

On the practical side, at least she's not exposing her skin to the carcinoma causing sun rays.

You know, accept for the leggings, that outfit looks like something they wore on the beaches in the earlier parts of the 20th century in the US.

The Japanese are just the opposite...of course, I doubt that any of these Japanese women are Muslims, either!

If you've ever visited Honolulu, Hawaii, you'll see tourists on those beaches just absolutely burning their skin for a toasty tan. I believe some of them are Japanese. I think they come out looking worse than those salon tans.

Be comfortable with the skin you were born with people!
