Manilow refuses to be interviewed by right-wing host Elizabeth Hasselback of "The View."

Legendary singer Barry Manilow has canceled a scheduled appearance on ABC's "The View," because he dislikes co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

The mild-mannered "Mandy" singer was scheduled to appear on the daytime show on Tuesday to promote his new covers album, "The Greatest Songs of the Seventies."

But Manilow pulled out of the show, after stating he finds right-wing host Hasselbeck "dangerous and offensive."

In a statement, Manilow says, "I strongly disagree with her views. I think she's dangerous and offensive. I will not be on the same stage as her. ... I cannot compromise my beliefs."

He adds, "I had made a request that I be interviewed by co-hosts Joy (Behar), Barbara (Walters) or Whoopi (Goldberg), but not Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request, so I bowed out."

Absolutely!

Hooray for Barry Manilow!

I love people with good taste, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck is in as bad taste as humanly possible.

I understand EH is married to a football player. That maybe him in the picture at the link, even though the person looks pregnant. The muscles on "her" right arm could belong to a football player! :P

Yes...I'd always liked to hear Manilow sing, but now he sounds even better, as do Linda Ronstadt and the Dixie Chicks.

Awesome for him. I wish more people would do this sorta thing and then make sure to put out a press release as to why. I haven't heard of that chick, but I don't watch TV other than Nickelodeon with my boy. I'm going to look her up right now.

Lefty, I don't even get network TV, so couldn't watch her if I wanted to. I just remember the dust-ups that have been attributed to her nasty viewpoints in the past.

I really don't want to hear another rightwinger whining about life not being perfect for themselves while they pass judgement on people who do not have the advantages they have themselves.

Rightwing--empathy? Talk about an oxymoron!
