This baseball season, like the last few, have past my sports radar without so much as a blip.

Not sure why, but I have not been into sports for a long time. I couldn't tell you who the stars were on many of the teams anymore, after spending my youthful live charting everything about baseball.

Maybe it's because sports seems so trivial with what's going on in the world and where I'm at with my family.

That sounds plausible, CZ. I love baseball, but couldn't name the players anymore.

I do think family matters and the mess our country is in makes that difference.

Heck, I still haven't gotten over moving the Dodgers out of New York. Am I old, or what!!!

I have never been a baseball fan, but it seems that there are too many other things that have taken over what used to be "America's Pasttime."

The war, the economy, and all of the current forms of entertainment have stolen America's attention to baseball. There are only so many hours in the day...!

I know it isn't possible, but it seems those hours are shorter than they used to be.

I am counting my blessings. My Dad was a very active person but when he was bedridden his hours dragged. Actually, baseball was one of the things that made those days livable for him.

Yeah, maybe it's the times.

I tried to watch a Phillies playoff game, but then decided that there must have been something more important on elsewhere.

I caught something on CNN about Afghanistan, farming poppies, the government and warloads in kahootz, and that seemed more important to know.

Plus, I've got stuff I could stand to read for work.

Aside from the changes in baseball, it really was at it's peak when life was slower. A person could watch a game from the bleachers, or listen to it on radio as they worked.

Now it is too expensive to go to a game, and I am told the music they play is so loud throughout the game you can't hear for hours after leaving the stadium. People complain they don't want to take their children to the ball park because they get quite an education there--in things parents don't want their children seeing and hearing.

The times they are a'changin. Not for the better so far...
