A few weeks ago...couple months at most, I made an offhand reference in regards to a vaccination maker sending LIVE avian flu viruses...actually, it was a hybrid...avian flu and another type which is most commonly carried by humans.
(Here is a quick link, if your interested, you can always dig up more)
http://www.infowars.com/%E2%80%98accidental%E2%80%99-contamination-of-vaccine-with-live-avian-flu-virus-virtually-impossible/Now, my first thoughts when I originaly read about it some time back was "Whoah!!!!" The reason this ran through my mind was because of this "mistake", they could have very easily caused the "jump" which viruses make from other animals to humans. Yes, they were worried about the bird flu making this jump in its natural chain of events, but here they were accidentaly shipping the very vehicle for it to happen.
This to my mind was and is very dangerous. I at the time wondered IF it really was a mistake.
I think that this is very important to remember because this current flu which seem's to be taking hold also seems to have muliple characteristics. Look here

"This is the first time that we've seen an avian strain, two swine strains and a human strain," said Daigle, adding that the virus had influenza strains from European and Asian swine, but not from North American swine.

Now, the question you asked....is it serious?
Well, its serious enough for Mexico to shut down
Quote:
Mexico shut down schools, museums, libraries and state-run theatres across it overcrowded capital Friday in hopes of containing a swine flu outbreak that authorities say killed at least 20 people - and perhaps dozens more.
http://www.macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=w242688322The reason I'm a bit wary is because this is a hybrid strain present in a very populated area. This spells danger.
This strain is already a concoction of some very nasty little viruses all mixed up in one. What happens when, (not if, but when) it mutates? What happens if it mutates into a super virus, super contagious and very deadly?
Of course, we cant be sure, but I'm gonna watch this one very, very closely mostly because it is an odd sequence of events.
This smells to me, and I just do not like it.
