OLBERMANN: FUTURE OF THE US DEPENDS ON TORTURE ACCOUNTABILITY

In his special comment tonight, Keith Olbermann takes on the release of the torture memos, praising President Obama for daring to release "the dirty laundry" but criticizing him for not laying blame.

Olbermann stressed the importance of torture accountability, emphasizing that it was Obama's responsibility to make sure that this "painful chapter" is not repeated.

In my opinion remembering the past is not good enough and if people are not held accountable , it will be easier the next time , to commit crimes and violate the Constitution , by not prosecuting known crimes and it really ticks me off bcs when you steal a loaf of bread , you go to jail and these guys are getting away with their crimes .
As far as Olberman's comments , our future has always been in question, bcs the U.S. / certain intelligence organizations have used torture , taught torture for a long time from Central & South America to Africa and the U.S. media has kept most people in the dark . - thanks for your post Catherine

There still seems to be some resistence to investigating the torture allegations. How much longer that resistence will be maintained by the Obama admin is hard to tell.

My hope is that there will be a Special Prosecutor appointed, and that the digging into the torture allegations will at least be as deep as that done years ago to find out if a sitting president had "had sex" with "that woman."
