John Perkins on "The Secret History of the American Empire: Economic Hit Men, Jackals, and the Truth about Global Corruption"

Today, we spend the hour with a man who claims to have worked deep inside the forces driving corporate globalization. In his first book, “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man”, John Perkins told the story of his work as a highly paid consultant hired to strong-arm leaders into creating policy favorable to the U.S. government and corporations -- what he calls the “corporatocracy.” John Perkins has just come out with a new book. It's called “The Secret History of the American Empire: Economic Hit Men, Jackals, and the Truth about Global Corruption.” [includes rush transcript]

This man tells us what is happening from the inside. As an economic hit man, he learned how our government/corporations work, and now he is telling the world. Can't get more accurate than that.

Certainly interesting. Transcript, audio and video at link.

I have the first best seller and bought his new book just yesterday. I am still trying to finish- Crossing the Rubicon- it's so long but lots of useful information.

I've become such a bookworm in the last 2 months. And I stopped watching the news on TV.

If more people would stop watching the news on TV, we would have a far more informed public. Loads of great books out, and DVDs with great information. And it is REAL!

I don't think the average person in the United States is interested is what is actually real. They prefer 'reality TV'. If that attitude weren't so destructive, it would be funny.
