AlterNet Original: Kicked out of the Hannity 'Freedom Concert'

Posted by Evan Derkacz at 12:45 PM on July 27, 2006.

Quote:
Just for being liberal.

Last week, blogger Mike Stark of Callingallwingnuts and I attended Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert at the Six Flags park in New Jersey.

Mike was kicked out as soon as he was recognized as a liberal blogger (and the bane of right wing talk show hosts). Mike calls in to challenge their views. That's it. And they don't like it.

But don't read, watch what 'Freedom" means to Sean Hannity and his ilk...

It's OK for them to restrict free speech, but if a liberal does it to them...... watch out.

Therights true fascist tendancies come out. Watch for cameo's by Mann Coulter!

Do you suppose carey borrowed money from his "bro," hopped a plane, flew up to the great state of New Jersey, and attended this 'Freedom Concert?"

Free Speech should not have restrictions of any kind. It's like tearing pieces
off a loaf of bread, soon you have nothing left. The easiest way to do this, is find or create reasons to chop away at freedom or freedom of speech in general. Convince the public these laws are the right thing to do. People just keep falling for it.

Actually, free speech SHOULD have restrictions. Nothing is, or should be absolute. The hard part is figuring out where to draw the line.
