Post subject: Supreme Court Upholds Ban on Partial Birth Abortions.

Skull destroyed in procedure
The procedure at issue involves partially removing the fetus intact from a woman’s uterus, then crushing or cutting its skull to complete the abortion.

Abortion opponents say the law will not reduce the number of abortions performed because an alternate method — dismembering the fetus in the uterus — is available and, indeed, much more common.

The 5-4 ruling said the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act that Congress passed and President Bush signed into law in 2003 does not violate a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion. The opponents of the act “have not demonstrated that the Act would be unconstitutional in a large fraction of relevant cases,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion....

I'm not against this ruling. I'm pro-choice, but if a pregnancy is going to be terminated via abortion for whatever reason, it should occur as soon as possible after conception.

Catherine:
I am pro-choice as well. And while I beleive that some form of life begins at conception, I cant honestly see how some argue that the life form existing at 6 days is equal to the one exisitng at 6 months.

On the other hand, I'm not sure where that line should be drawn. As a father of 8 year old twins (1 boy and 1 girl), I would have trouble ending any life that could grow up to be a healthy boy or girl.
