Clinton could pull out of MSNBC debates over anchor's comments

SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- A distasteful comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor could imperil Sen. Hillary Clinton's participation in future presidential debates on the network, a Clinton spokesman said.

In a conference call with reporters, Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson on Friday excoriated MSNBC's David Shuster for suggesting the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" 27-year old Chelsea by having her place phone calls to celebrities and Democratic Party "superdelegates" on her mother's behalf.

Wolfson called Shuster's comment "beneath contempt" and ing.

"I, at this point, can't envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he added.

MSNBC said Shuster, who apologized on the air for his comment, has been temporarily suspended from appearing on all NBC news broadcasts except to offer his apology.

Perhaps Shuster should go over to Faux.

Olbermann had the story on, and he too apologized for the network. He said Shuster was out of line and had been suspended for saying what he did.

Why do these people love to attack young people? I know it was aimed at her parents and the campaign, but it hurt Chelsea.

Guess if your name is 'Clinton' you have to get used to the press attacking you.

definitely a low blow punch by shuster.

i've seen him many times on olbermanns show and i was always impressed with his style of articulation.

a bit of embarrassment for all concerned especially chelsea.

i'm guessing shuster is extremely embarrassed and no doubt is going through the process of making calls to make amends for his off the cuff statement.

a lot of times you can get caught up in the emotion of the moment and end up saying some incredibly stupid things. i know, i've been there myself.

just ask my wife.

on the otherhand limbaugh, hannity, oreilly and the rest of the gop nazi faithful wouldn't think twice about make such a comment.

Worse than that, they would congratulate themselves had they made the comment. Their only problem with Shuster is one of jealousy.

That "pimp out" term was so, so unfortunate. God knows some of the repub candidates were doing that as well.
