I don't see where he did anything but sort of get tripped up. I would HOPE that he just was thinking of the acronym and didn't mean it like he actually calls black people "colored". I don't know that reporter, so I don't know what he's like ordinarily, but I really didn't see it like him being an ass, just saying something that he didn't mean for it to sound the way it could have been interpreted.

You know what bothered me about this? That ignorant Joe Scarborough can say things like "fuck" on his show and he doesn't have to do much at all except look agog at Mika's giggling. Sure, Scarborough apologized, but in my opinion, he was more focused on apologizing to his daughter, who might have been watching, and to his wife. While anchors and their guests can certainly get their tongues twisted while they all try to out-talk each other, it's amazing what becomes the focus of attention and what doesn't.

You are so correct, Cat. Me and my hubby talked about this (he's black, by the way) and we both agreed that people are just a little too afraid of what to say and what to call black people that nearly anything can be misconstrued and turned into a big deal, when it never was in the first place.
