I really enjoy doing genealogical research and I've made some remarkable discoveries about my ancestry and that of my husband. Last year, while researching my husband's family history, I made contact with one of his unknown relatives living in Ohio and we started up a very active correspondence via email. To make a long story short, I began to suspect that this relative of my husband might be a Faux News watcher. I liked her, and still do...but I had hoped for more reasoning ability from her. Even so, I tried to steer clear of any political discussions because I didn't want to muddy the waters of family research. Anyway, this passed weekend, I got an email from her practically shouting about how the "socialist" in the White House had to be defeated and she rambled on about how much money it was costing the US taxpayer for the Obama family to vacation in Hawaii.
That did it....I sent her back a scathing response, telling her that while we had a hell of a lot in common genealogically, we had NONE, NADA, NOTHING in common politically, and then I went on to explain the idiocy that was coming from the Republicans, Fox News, the teabaggers, and I also pointed out, with many links, all about how Bush had been the most "vacationed" president since Reagan...and I also asked her what did she think the president ought to do to get to his destinations...THUMB? I asked her if she thought Bush had flown around the country on his own dime...of course he hadn't! I also pointed out that many of the good things about our country, including Social Security and Medicare, had come from socialistic ideas...and I was sure she didn't turn down her SS check nor her Medicare...
She responded back with a very lame..."You aren't saying anything I've not heard before" and then quickly changed the subject!
What is it with these people? It doesn't matter how much they're shown the truth about the Repubs and Fox News, they will still continue to believe anything they say.
