From my high perch on the hill, I think Comcast just fired Keith Olbermann. He made his final Countdown show tonight.

The purchase of MSNBC by Comcast was finalize this week, and Comcast wanted no part of Countdown or the Rachel Maddow shows to air. So, I look for Rachel Maddow to leave also.

More to come.

I miss Keith. I happened to be watching MSNBC last night at 8 pm when Lawrence O'Donnell came on with "The Last Word." Seemed somehow surreal. I expected to hear that famiiar Countdown theme with Keith saying "Which of these stories will you be talking about tomorrow..."

Didn't happen. :( While I like O'Donnell and the entire MSNBC primetime line up...well, not so much Hardball, but O'Donnell, Maddow, and Schultz have excellent shows. I just wish Keith Olbermann the very best and hope, hope, hope that he will return to public life in some aspect...how about Senator Olbermann????!!!!! :bounce:

Word on the street is, Keith Olbermann will form a blog smilier to John Amato's "Crooks & Liars" blog which has great success over the years. I read "Crooks & Liars" each day for the latest on how the "crazies" try to run the country.

I also like the idea KO running for the senate. What state is he a resident?

I read right after his show went off the air that he lived in CT...not sure if that is true, though. I think he'd make a fine replacement for old Joe LIEbermann!

IF Keith has a show on any channel that I have access to, I'll be watching him! :D

Keith Olbermann may be going to Current TV, The New York Times reported on Monday night, according to those familiar with the matter.

The Times reported that Olbermann, his representatives and Current TV executives all would not comment on the move ahead of Tuesday's 11 a.m. Eastern Time press conference.

Current TV is a public affairs channel which was co-founded by Vice President Al Gore. If Olbermann goes there, he would be landing at a much smaller channel than his former home, MSNBC. (The Times notes that Current is only available in 60 million homes, whereas MSNBC is available in 85 million homes.) He would also not be able to start for some months; the deal he made with MSNBC upon his departure stipulated that he not appear on television for at least half a year. But the move would allow Olbermann to potentially bring a whole new audience to Current.

This is wonderful!!

I hope it pans out for Keith, if he elects to go this route. It is unfortunate, that a lot of these progressive channels, aren't on the mainstream media channels.

However, I think this will change in the VERY NEAR future. It may take some time to build up steam, but I see it happening eventually. It's a combination of the "snowball effect," and diversity.

After all, how many "brain dead channels," can a person ingest in one sitting?

...and the commercials!!

JEEEEEEZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!

People: Keith Olbermann to pair with Gore

Former MSNBC "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann confirmed at a news conference Tuesday he will host a new nightly prime time news and commentary show on Current TV.

The network, which counts former vice president and Internet creator Al Gore as one of its founders, did not say when the show would begin, except "later in 2011."

Olbermann is believed to have a noncompete clause in his exit agreement with MSNBC that keeps him off television for several months. Which should give fans just enough time to find his new network.

"Nothing is more vital to a free America than a free media, and nothing is more vital to my concept of a free media than news produced independently of corporate interference," Olbermann said.

Olbermann will be executive producer of his program. He'll also become the network's chief news officer.

In a conference call, Gore said, "I can assure you everyone at Current is extremely excited and honored that Keith Olbermann has selected Current TV as the new home of his independent voice."

Well, I don't know if Al Gore created the "Internets" but I'm darn glad that he and his associates had the good sense to lure Kieth Olbermann to their network...and watch...the viewers will increase, too. I know I will be watching Keith's new show and I hope they don't take too long to get it on. Wouldn't it be neat if Current became the liberals' answer to Faux?

FINALLY! :D :bounce:

Olbermann's Current TV Show Called 'Countdown,' Launches June 20 (VIDEO)

Keith Olbermann finally announced what his new Current TV show will be called, and when it will air.

The new name? "Countdown With Keith Olbermann."

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," Olbermann joked in a video announcement posted to his "Fok News Channel" site on Tuesday morning.

Previously, Olbermann would only say that the show would air in "late spring." In the video, he at last gave a specific date: Monday, June 20, at 8 PM Eastern.

Olbermann's show has been in the works since he abruptly left MSNBC in January.

INFO ON THE NEW COUNTDOWN PREMIER ON CURRENT TV!!!!!!

Keith Olbermann 'Countdown' Returns On Current TV: Recap Of The Premiere

I WATCHED THE PREMIER OF THE NEW COUNTDOWN SHOW ON CURRENT AND IT WAS WONDERFUL. KEITH TALKED ABOUT THE CORRUPT SUPREME COURT JUSTICE CLARENCE THOMAS AND, IN AN INTERVIEW WITH DAILY KOS'S MOULITSIS, WE DISCOVER THAT JOE SCARBOROUGH ACTUALLY HAS VETO POWER AS TO WHO GETS TO BE INTERVIEWED ON THE MSNBC NIGHTLY SHOWS!!

Quote:
"I was under the impression that you were in charge of your own guests," Moulitsas says. "Turns out Joe Scarborough has veto power." Some MSNBC-bashing just sneaks in as the hour ends! (Scarborough also gets called a "loser host.")

It was the old Keith! Great!!!

Wouldn't you know yukky Joe Scarborough has veto power over night time guests? Conservatives run everything, or almost everything. You have to search to find anything not tainted by their touch.

Keith said this week his show will run nine times a day. Next week it will be five times a day. The oxycontin program was interesting too. No wonder the feds raid medical pot programs, oxycontin pushers are making a fortune in Florida.

Current is doing some good stuff, starting with Keith Olbermann.

Isn't it amazing that drug infested slob is the hero to many people. If I hear him called 'a genius' one more time I am going to scream.

Does his program come from Florida? It suits him.

Meanwhile, Keith is having great guests. And everyone seems to be happy to see him back.

Some things do make one feel good.
