I was going to make a poll, but I thought that may be too leading...so just tell me who you trust? An individual, an outlet, a foriegn source...elaborate. Tell me who and why, and if you have links, that would be useful to those of us always looking for a trustworthy source.

none any more. i did favor CNN for a long time, but ever since they got people like glen beck, anderson, and a couple others, they've turned into FOX news. in fact, i've been reading in many forums lately that alot of others are saying the same about CNN.

so, as for news...i have to scour the internet, then try to decipher thru the b/s and the facts...if that's possible.

We can no longer really trust any of them. Best bet is to cypher through all of the news that you can.

I tend to look at all of the news sources that I can, attempting to look at as many opposing viewpoints as I can. Then I have to decide which one is correct. Sometimes this involves going back into history a bit to see how this story has unfolded before the present time.

In national news papers, they do quite often have very important information in them, though they are delegated to the back pages so physiologically the people do not deem them to be quite as important.
They mention it once, then it fades into obscurity, to be forgotten by the masses who do not care.

We bloggers on the other hand do care. We notice these things and we keep them in chronological order. We keep hammering at it until the mainstream is forced to come out of the closet with this "Breaking News," as if they uncovered something that we did not already know.
We see this happening on a daily basis.

solely the internet. in particular raw story, greenwald, buzzflash, cursor, and hines sight i suppose. my advice to my friends about media is trun off your tv, unless it's pbs, read your newspapers starting on page 4, and get online.

The print news source I couldn't live without is the Nation. I used to compile the news for another site and I found the most incredible agrigate service out there. I almost hate to give it up, as it seems to scoop most sites for news by 2 or 3 days (oh how I loved to have the scoop!). Its called http://www.newsnow.co.uk it is a very good site. It agrigates news from all over the world and it is sorted by category and updated every 5 minutes. You will be blown away by how useful it is, or at least I was.

those links should be made into a "sticky" post...that way they'll always be on top for future quick references.

It's done, mga, and I'm deleting my post above yours because it's repetitive.

Thanks, garagejazz for the kind words. :)

I agree that you need to read several news sources in order to find the closest thing to the truth. I watch a little tv news, sometimes read the paper, but mostly stick to the internet. A couple sites I look at are IndyMedia, and Poe News. I look at a lot more than that, though.
