MSNBC Re-Signs Keith Olbermann

MSNBC has asked Keith Olbermann to stay on as the host of “Countdown” for at least four more years. The left-leaning broadcaster is the network’s golden boy, with a ratings jump of 85 percent over the last year, thanks to his unique synthesis of Edward R. Murrow-style commentary and a wicked sense of humor.

As part of the deal, Olbermann will contribute occasional essays and prime-time specials to NBC proper.

The only chance I get to hear about him is on here. Our local cable supplier decided to move MSNBC to the pay area of our service and so we get CNN on 2 stations and CBC newsworld as our news suppliers. There's a CTV news statioon stuck somewhere in the high 80's somewhere but it is a recorded format that keeps revolving and is rather boring- like Faux. I call it C(hit)TV.

It hurt because I liked MSNBC news channel for some reason much more than CNN. Now with Olberman, I'd love it. It would be like my Daily Show/Colbert Report addiction.

So that is how they removed MSNBC from my TV. If I pay, I'd be able to watch O'Reilly the drunken Irishman again. Wow.

I could be wrong, but I think MSNBC is pod casting Olberman, or at least parts of it. I know they do his comments.

Give the MSNBC site a try.

Like his style/comments... Far better than any others on the channels that attempt to wash the linens. The man knows how to get right to the jugular vein.. I'm sure Bush/Chenney love him also..

Let's just hope KO doesn't meet with some "accident" or other. He's got to be a very sharp thorn in the sides of the Bushies and most of the msm. Cheney probably would love to take KO "hunting" with him. Bush would probably like to offer him some pretzels.

Keith's too smart, though...and I'm sure he's taken every safety precaution that is available to him.

I am sure you remember Catherine, Keith has had many death threats, and at one time someone in msm talked about it. Keith said on his show that no one was supposed to know but now that it was out, he confirmed a letter with white powder had been sent to his offices.

Others in media laughed it off, but Keith said it was no joke to him. He had to spend the day at a hospital being scrubbed. He didn't take kindly to people thinking things like this are something to laugh about.

I have worried about him since I first heard him. When he started doing his 'comments', it scared me half to death. You know there is a huge target on him now.

What he does takes the kind of courage those who laugh couldn't even dream of...

Paul Wellstone, I still love you.
