Awesome Video You Need to See Before You Start Holiday Shopping

Before the spending lust grabs hold of you, you might want to find out the truth about the consumer industry. we are the key component of its success so if you want change then you must resist your programming and begin to fight back by not shopping- especially at Wal-Marts and other big box stores. Have you heard of actual end value and the materials economy? Did you know you only have value if you are a consumer?

There is a strong likelihood that many of you are gearing up for a holiday purchasing spree, so the timing of this film is perfect.

It’s the story of “stuff” -- the electronics, the toys, the clothes and all the other material goods that we in the United States use to express the meaning of the holidays and, at other times of the year, our very own personal value.

Yet all of this “stuff” carries a hefty price tag, not just for your wallet but also for the planet and the people who live on it (that’s you!). This film explains how “stuff” ends up in your home, detailing the processes of extraction (trashing the planet), production (adding in toxic chemicals), distribution, consumption and ultimately disposal. The impact all of this has on communities at home and abroad are hidden from your view, yet it is immense.

This is a complex, interactive web that many of us fail to fully appreciate.

This video may make you laugh, and it may make you cry, but it will definitely change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

Sustainability must be the call if we ever hope to pass any decent life on to our offspring. At the fundamental core, as you will see, though, is the government.

That is why we desperately need someone firmly committed to freedom and principles that will sustain our environment -- and one of the primary reasons I am so passionate about supporting Ron Paul.

I wanted to make sure I listed his bias and I respect his and everyones wishes for choice and change, but this is one issue that Dr. Mercola should be made aware of. I don't think that RP is really interested in less consumerism or greening of the environment. It seems to me most libertarians we contact or 'who contact us' don't believe global warming is real and is a manufactured invention by the "Statists" to brainwash us all into giving them powers over us. Their commitment to free market vulture capitalism is too strong to allow sanctions and controls over a corporations right to make money whatever the cost to the consumer and environment now or later. This is the shortsitedness of the libertarians that RP will bring to his policies, and I as an earth loving tree hugger cannot support him for that reason.

Don't want to take from the importance of this film, but perhaps RP could be clearer on this issue as to how he would welcome change in the way we run our economy, if it is not a viable way, when all he would really do is allow the environment to suffer worse?

I respect choice, but just be careful you don't get what we asked for. It may not pan out to what we expected. Look what 200+ years is doing to our slave based documents. Bringing rebellion, slavery and destruction back in vogue?

And don't retreat into RP going to fix it by returning to it- read it and see that it is based on slavery. Is this what he respects? Commitment from automatons and destruction of resources, for who to profit? So you end up spending a few dollars less to keep quiet while the rape of the earth and its people continues, so you can receive your 30 shekels to shut up and take it? Bribed by lower taxes? Just make sure you control where your taxes go to and be happy, especially if it goes to peace, better education and free health care, for example.

The end of individualism can't be far off if you all think the same! May as well accept socialism, the soft "Ism", as your only real choice- now and for the futures sake as well. Do it for your children and their children and choose wisely, NOW. Learn ALL the facts! The real facts- not the spoonfed pablum that passes as fact.

We have a lot of belt tightening and more sharing and caring with each other if we're going to figure this out :!:

Seeing our crass spending habits laid out for us like this video does really puts reality back into its proper perspective.

Quote:
Our enormously productive economy..... demands that we make consumption our way of life. That we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals that we seek our spiritual satisfaction, our ego satisfaction, in consumption... We need things consumed, burned up, replaced and discarded at an even accelerated rate.

Sustainable eh? 1% of goods produced lasts 6 months or more! And it takes 70 garbage cans of waste to get it to where you can put it out on the curb. 1 CAN OF GARBAGE!

Bullshit Self Destructive Garbage Producing Capitalism should be its new name.

We should be looking to the future when we choose our candidates today! That would be following the moral imperative and not what our needs dictate now. That greed inside us is too patterned and seems to follow our individualized nihilistic worldview perfectly. You know- do unto others ............

If you must change, change that, or would that be asking or expecting too much? Do it for your soul if not for yourself, and realize where change truly begins.

It's really too bad there isn't a spot on the ballot that states- NONE of the ABOVE- but didn't mean that someone would occupy the spot if NONE won.
A populace voted for nobody to run the country today so nobody has taken the position - might be one of the most confusing newspaper headlines ever. :?
