Prices Surging, Consumer Confidence Plunging
Prices at the wholesale, or producer level surged a full percentage point in January, the biggest annual gain in more than 26 years, thanks mostly to rising food and energy prices. Not surprisingly, consumer confidence is taking a hit, falling to its lowest point in five years.
But oddly, in a separate survey Americans display great optimism about their savings, even though most do not even come close to having enough in the bank to pay off debt and finance their retirement.
Comcast Blocks Public From FCC Hearing
Taking a page from the tactics used in totalitarian countries, Comcast has admitted it used employees and thugs hired off the street to fill up seats in an FCC hearing in Cambridge, Massachusetts Monday. Ironically, the hearing was partly about charges that Comcast blocked Internet access for some of its customers.
The Comcast goons not only held spots in line, but also crowded into the hearing itself, preventing more than 100 attendees -- many of whom had come to speak against Comcast -- from getting inside. Read more ...
