I heard an interesting proposal to fix the country's economic woes. It actually sounded somewhat more feasible for actual economic stimulus than the so-called bailouts.

The proposal involved the US government mailing checks in the amount of $100,000 to Americans who sent in a federal income tax return last year...joint or single. (A return doesn't necessarily represent a person...could be a married couple filing jointly.) Yes, it would be a huge chunk of money, but think of what would actually happen to that money.

Consider it... what would you do with $100,000 tax-free money, especially if you've been deprived of a comfortable income for a long time? Most likely, you'd spend a good deal of it...on lots of different things. You'd probably spend it within the borders of the US, too. You might open savings accounts you didn't have before. You might pay off debt and also you just might take that much delayed vacation. If we the taxpayers were returned a portion of taxed monies, you can bet your boots we'd feel better about the federal government's use of OUR money.
