During Cheney's visit to Australia, there was quite a bit of protesting going on. Apparently, the Sydney police have been trying to get a conviction against some of the protesters and have finally succeeded in getting some satisfaction....of sorts.


Cheney protester convicted



AFTER six unsuccessful trials against protesters of the February visit of US Vice President, Dick Cheney, police finally obtained a conviction yesterday.

John Justin Morris, 38, a high-school teacher from Earlwood, was found guilty of resisting arrest for his behaviour at a February 22 protest against Mr Cheney's visit to Sydney.

Morris was placed on a six-month good behaviour bond and no conviction was recorded against him.

He was also acquitted of assault and malicious damage charges by Deputy Magistrate Helen Syme at Downing Centre Court.
