Cheney Claims ‘High Probability’ of WMD Attack

The former vice president tells Politico that there is a “high probability” of a terrorist attack involving “a nuclear weapon or a biological agent of some kind” and that the current administration is “more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States. ...”

Of course the last time Cheney warned us about a likely WMD attack he turned out to be a goofball with a $3 trillion quagmire to sell.

So what’s new? Where’s the news here? He has said this before—a hundred times. He’s said nothing else for the past six years.

Some real news, interesting news, would be if he came out of the closet and said he and Rush were moving to San Fransico and opening up a scented candle shop. “Rush wanted to start a poodle grooming center, but after I smacked him around a little he came to his senses. I mean, come on, candle sales are at an all time high. And they’re very comforting; we light them all and curl up on the couch to watch the military channel. Rush likes the D-Day footage but I prefer the Holocaust stuff myself. Now those were some times to live in!”

There’s some news for ya
.

I get it.. like we need to take advise from one of the worth war criminal's in the world.

Should he ever exit the 70 foot thick bunker he's hiding in, and come out to see what the Democrats are doing... Maybe a swarm of 'Killer' bees attack him.

NOTE THE TALKING POINT I'VE HIGHLIGHTED IN RED.

Greenwald: Cheney setting up Obama in anticipation of another terrorist attack

Quote:
..."This argument is setting us up for the future," asserted MSNBC's Rachel Maddow on Wednesday evening. "If there is another attack, there's a reason to keep pushing this legacy ... so that there will be a political blowback against Barack Obama, so ... the country wouldn't rally around him they way they rallied around Bush and Cheney after 9/11."

Constitutional lawyer Glenn Greenwald, who had previously written about the Cheney interview in his blog at Salon, agreed with Maddow: "That's what's so nefarious. It's setting the groundwork if there is another terrorist attack."

"Why does it help Dick Cheney politically for him to be scary?" Maddow asked.

"There's really no more effective weapon for a government to keep a citizenry in submission to whatever it wants than keeping the fear level as high as possible," replied Greenwald.

Greenwald insisted, however, that it is "inane" for Cheney to argue -- and for his supporters in the media to accept -- that "there must be something to what they did, because after all they kept us safe" from a subsequent terrorist attack.

"What they're really saying," noted Greenwald, "is, 'During our administration, we allowed one catastrophic terrorist attack on US soil -- but don't worry, because we only allowed one.'"

In contrast, then-president Bill Clinton didn't use any of the Bush-Cheney methods following the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, and yet, stated Greenwald, "for the next eight years of the Clinton presidency -- to use the jargon -- 'he kept us safe.'"

Greenwald added that the Cheney interview does provide an answer to the question Americans were asking in their bewilderment after 9/11, "Why do they hate us?"

"The things that he's saying are things like ... 'we need to be dirty, nasty, and mean in our foreign policy,'" said Greenwald. "'We need to launch wars in order to keep people respectful.'"

"Those things don't stop terrorism," Greenwald commented. "Those are the things that fuel terrorism
."

72 percent of Americans disagree with Cheney’s claim that Obama has made the U.S. less safe.

Last month, former Vice President Dick Cheney complained that President Obama’s policies “raise the risk…of another attack” in the U.S. Since then, numerous government officials — including Gen. David Petraeus and Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) — have spoken out against Cheney’s remarks. Now, a new CNN poll shows that the American public also view Cheney’s claim with disregard. According to the poll, 72 percent “disagree with Cheney’s view that some of Obama’s actions have put the country at greater risk with 26 percent agreeing with the former vice president...

The other 28% are the Repub die hards who feed on Faux Noise and Rushies at least three times a day!

Good to see you posting again, TUT... :D

It would be interesting to see/hear Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert interview Cheney....but Cheney would run squealing away to hide under his Faux Noise rock before he'd expose himself to either of them.
