This Repub has no clue....

Crowd pulls few punches at Herrera Beutler town hall: Congresswoman faces protesters, some boos amid mostly partisans

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R) faced a boisterous, partisan crowd Tuesday evening at her first Vancouver town hall, where she fielded sometimes hostile questions about her vote to restructure Medicare and her reluctance to support raising the federal debt limit.

The Camas Republican had her supporters too, who applauded her vow to continue fighting to cut federal spending. She drew both boos and applause when she said, “If I’m offered the option to raise the debt limit with no strings attached, I would vote no.”

Several hundred people showed up at Skyview High School for the session. They passed a couple dozen protesters near the entrance who hoisted signs saying, “Save Medicare: Tax the Rich” and “People not Profits.” Several supporters of Planned Parenthood wore pink T-shirts to protest Herrera Beutler’s vote to end federal funding of family planning services.

Winning reproductive rights “is why I spent the 50s and 60s burning my bras,” declared Celia Louderback of Vancouver.

Herrera Beutler, sensing that it could be a rough crowd, urged the audience in her opening remarks to “make sure we respect everyone’s opinion.”

THIS IS TRULY THE PITS FOR THE REPUB LEADERSHIP...THREATENING TO HOLD DISASTER RELIEF FUNDS BACK IF BUDGET CUTS THEY WANT ARE NOT MET! WHAT A DICKHEAD!

Cantor Says Congress Won’t Pay For Missouri Disaster Relief Unless Spending Is Cut Elsewhere

WASHINGTON (AP/The Huffington Post) -– In the aftermath of Sunday's devastating tornado in Joplin, Mo., a key House panel has approved a $1 billion aid package to make sure federal disaster relief accounts don't run out before the end of the budget year in September.

The Appropriations panel approved the measure by voice vote as an amendment to a measure funding the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other Department of Homeland Security programs for the 2012 fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

The disaster aid package would be financed by a $1.5 billion cut from a loan program to encourage the production of fuel-efficient vehicles. That means the new spending wouldn't add to out-of-control budget deficits.

On Monday, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said that Congress would not approve funds for disaster relief without budget cuts elsewhere. "If there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental," he said.

4 Fantastically Stupid Projects Pushed By Republicans Aiming to Please Their Corporate Masters

The narrative that there isn’t enough money isn’t true. In state after state, legislatures are able to find hundreds of millions of dollars to spend on the whims of the rich.

1. KENTUCKY'S $43 MILLION BIBLE THEME PARK

2. TEXAS'S TAX BREAK FOR YACHT OWNERS

3. GOV. CHRISTIE'S MONEY PIT

4. PUBLIC-FUNDING OF UNION-BUSTING CORPORATIONS

Catherine, you have labeled Eric Cantor a "Dickhead", which serves him correctly. I have a much serving name for him, but I might get a federal arrest warrant swerved on me. Congressman Cantor sure loves people. Especially those that suffered loses to their property and lives in the Joplin, Mo tornado. He has a real love for people...If I could get the opportunity, I would tie him to a tree or shackle him in a automobile and place him in the path of the next record breaking tornado. If he makes it out alive, maybe he will have a change of heart.

ANOTHER UTTER MADNESS CONTRIBUTION FROM A REPUBLICAN!

AFTER CALLING SOCIAL SECURITY A "PYRAMID SCHEME," TWICE, GOP REPRESENTATIVE JOE HECK CLAIMS HE WANTS TO PROTECT IT!!!!!

As ThinkProgress reported last week, Rep. Joe Heck (R-NV) faced an angry crowd of constituents last month after telling them at a town hall meeting that Social Security is a “pyramid scheme” that “isn’t working.” The congressman doubled down this week, once again referring to the program as a “pyramid scheme” during an appearance on a local radio show, telling a caller he was “exactly right” to call it that. Then Wednesday morning, on a seperate radio show, he called his aforementioned comments a “poor choice of words.”

At a town hall last night, Heck refused to address his previous comments and only claimed that he actually wants to defend the program:

U.S. Rep. Joe Heck vowed Wednesday to preserve Social Security but refused to explain why he called the federal program a “pyramid scheme” that does not work. [...] “At this point I am not going to comment on that question,” Heck told a reporter who probed him about the pyramid scheme gaffe. When another reporter asked him about the comment after the meeting, he ignored the question and walked out of the room, avoiding the crowd of constituents gathered to greet him. [...] At Wednesday’s town hall, he said he would protect the program, adding, “For future generations there may need to be changes for long-term sustainability.”

Responding to Heck’s rapidly changing positions, Americans United for Change’s Jeremy Funk said, “It’s a good thing Congressman Heck decided to keep his government health care benefits despite opposing health reform. He may need to be treated for whiplash soon, with all the flip-flopping going on here.”

Alabama Passes ‘Fetal Pain’ Anti-Abortion Bill, Rejects Exceptions For Rape And Incest

[size=150]The Alabama GOP marked a successful week in regressive legislation. Gov. Robert Bentley (R) signed the nation’s toughest immigration bill into law yesterday, requiring local police to detain suspected undocumented immigrants and Alabama schools to collect student citizenship information. The GOP-led state Senate then rounded out the day by passing a radical anti-abortion bill that bans anyone from performing abortion after 20 weeks — an act that would punish the doctor with “one to 10 years in prison.”

State Sen. Scott Beason (R), known previously for advising politicians to “empty the clip” to stop undocumented immigrants, ushered the bill through the Senate. Defending the extreme restriction on the basis of “fetal pain,” Beason — who received a degree in geology — definitively declared that “there’s no doubt” a fetus experiences pain at 20 weeks:

”It’s clear that a baby at 20 weeks experiences pain. There’s no doubt about that,” said Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, who pushed for the bill’s approval in the Senate.

”We’re trying to get it back to the point where once a baby feels pain, there can be no abortions,” Beason said.

Those with an actual medical degree, however, have expressed significant doubt that a fetus’ pain perception functions at 20 weeks. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, “The fetus’s higher pain pathways are not yet fully developed and functional” before the third trimester. Even a fellow Republican lawmaker in Kansas noted assertions like Beason’s are “based on false research” and “untruths.”

Unwavering in their ignorance, the Alabama Senate even used this “false research” to reject an amendment that would have allowed exceptions to the 20-week ban “to preserve a woman’s health or ‘where the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.’” State Sen. Linda Coleman (D) viewed the failure as “literally a slap in the face of all women.” But Beason instructed sexual assault victims that they have plenty of time to deal with their situation earlier:

Beason in an interview replied that someone impregnated because of rape or incest still could get an abortion before reaching 20 weeks of pregnancy. ”That’s five months,” Beason said. ”I don’t think it’s that complicated.”

The lack of both knowledge and compassion needed to pass this bill — however astounding — is shared by a remarkably high number of Republican lawmakers across the country. Nebraska was the first in the nation to pass a fetal pain bill, with Kansas, Florida, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, and Kentucky considering similar bills. The Alabama house passed the Senate’s changes in a 70-20 vote to give the bill final legislative approval. If Bentley signs it, the 20-week ban — like the immigration bill — will take effect Sept. 1.

I call these people the 'sperm worshipers'. They claim to have such love for 'babies', yet they don't give a fig about those babies after they are born.

Nor do they care for anyone else that isn't paying them to care.

GOP Cuts To Food Aid For Seniors And Food Banks Equals One Day Of Bush Tax Cuts For Millionaires

Quote:
Today, the House is debating the Republican’s 2012 Agriculture Appropriations Bill, which, as we’ve been documenting, slashes funding for food assistance, preventing hundreds of thousands of people from accessing aid. In addition to lopping more than $800 million from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the GOP’s bill would cut $38 million from the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSIP), as well as $63 million from the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAB).

ANOTHER EPISODE OF REPUBLICANS BEHAVING BADLY...

A Republican state Senator from Idaho was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning and charged with grand theft auto and driving under the influence, according to police reports.

State Sen. John McGee, currently the majority caucus chair for the Idaho State Senate, had been drinking on a golf course late Saturday night, when he apparently decided to leave on foot. After walking for miles without shoes, he came upon a truck and trailer that had its keys inside.

He didn't get far though: Residents of the neighborhood were alarmed around 3 a.m. to discover the truck jackknifed in the back yard of a home down the street.

McGee reportedly exited the vehicle and walked up and down the street several times before returning to the truck and falling asleep. Witnesses said he appeared to be "in another world" and was covered in cuts and scrapes, asking about "the promised land." Yeah, I'll bet...

Police responding to the call reportedly said his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Now is anybody out there surprised by this?

Didn't think so...

Really good to see you AOM. And you bring gifts!

So this is an 'outstanding citizen'? Did you see the damage he did to that truck? Apparently he was outstanding all night.

Like Catherine said, it was the Democrats, better known to Rs as satan, who made him do it! Isn't that always the excuse?

AOM, YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE! AND GUESS WHAT...IT IS FROM WISCONSIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Big, Big, Big Trouble

Newly elected Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has some serious splainin' to do. After spending nearly $9 million of his own money to get elected in November, Johnson received $10 million in "deferred compensation" from his company.

That's seems kind of fishy on its own. But it gets better -- or worse, if you're Johnson and his lawyers.

Unlike most deferred comp arrangements, there was apparently no agreed-upon figure or formula for calculating the amount of compensation. Johnson reached agreement with himself on how much he should get paid. The amount he arrived at just happened to cover what he had recently dropped on the election.

Remember, corporate contributions directly to a federal candidate remain illegal. That includes reimbursements.

Johnson's explanation for all this? "It's a private business. I've complied with all the disclosure laws, and I don't have to explain it any further to someone like you," Johnson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Daniel Bice.

Yes, Catherine, I saw that one this morning. They are SUCH losers. And now that they are in the majority in the House--which won't last past the next election; you heard it here first!--we'll be getting many more like this in the news.

Well, what else can you expect ftrom people whose core philosophy is selfishness??

There are some things that Republican Ohio Representative Robert Mecklenborg won’t stand for. Among these are abortion, unchristian things, voting without a state ID, and being arrested for drunk driving. Who the hell does that? This isn’t Soviet Nazi Korea here, folks. And yet nonetheless Bobby the Borg was busted for being hammered and on Viagra while driving a stripper’s car with a headlight out (and the stripper inside) somewhere in the vicinity of Concepts Lounge, which despite its name is not a cerebral Ohioan think tank, but a place where men pay money to have sweaty body parts rubbed on their pants.

Rep. Mecklenborg is also a vanguard of morality and family values.

Right. And I'm the Queen of Sheba...

This has been another episode of Republicans Behaving Badly.
