CONSERVATIVES PILE ON PIMA COUNTY SHERIFF DUPNIK

METHINKS THEY PROTEST TOO LOUDLY! IF THE SHERIFF WAS WRONG, THEY WOULDN'T BE BEHAVING AS THEY ARE..YELLING, SCREAMING...WHICH IS WHAT THEY DO BEST, OTHER THAN MAKING THREATS...AND RAISING MONEY...

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik thrust himself into the spotlight in the aftermath of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and 19 other people in Arizona on Saturday, decrying the heated political atmosphere and calling for more civility.

"It's not unusual for all public officials to get threats constantly, myself included," he said on Saturday. "That's the sad thing about what's going on in America: pretty soon we're not going to be able to find reasonable, decent people willing to subject themselves to serve in public office."

Dupnik immediately angered some on the right, who took his words to be directed at the tea party and conservatives, as well as Arizonans who took offense to his depiction of Arizona as "a mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) said he didn't think the sheriff's words "had any part in a law enforcement briefing." Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) said he was "disappointed" in the sheriff. Conservative talk show host Neal Boortz said Dupnik was looking for political gain, and Fox News anchor -- in an interview with the sheriff -- wondered aloud why he would "inject political speculation" into the story.

Say what they want about the Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnuk, he was correct in his remarks... the hate, bigotry, etc comes from the talk radio, Fox News, and Rush Limberdick.

The Arizona sheriff investigating the Tucson shooting that left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded had harsh words today for those engaging in political rhetoric, calling conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh "irresponsible" for continuing the vitriol.

"The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information," Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today. "(Limbaugh) attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences."

Limbaugh today railed against the media and Dupnik for trying to draw a link between the heated political climate and the shooting rampage, calling the sheriff a "fool." But Dupnik stood by his assertions.

"The vitriol affects the (unstable) personality that we are talking about," he said. "You can say, 'Oh no, it doesn't,' but my opinion is that it does."
