This is no loss as he was never a real democrat anyway!

Heath Shuler is not seeking re-election to Congress...and good riddance to bad rubbish.

We have a few more who should join him. Unfortunately, too many good people are leaving too.

I also am disappointed that our Democratic governor, Bev Purdue is not going to seek re-election. That means that if a Repub runs and wins, NC is going to be a blood-red state. The local area still is...much to my sorrow and chagrin. It's a beautiful area, but so steeped in bible thumping and rightwing hate mongering. Incredible, but true.

Even a local radio station is now nothing but hick music, rightwing talk, and RUSH LIMBAUGH! Yep, saw it on a billboard going out of a small town near where I live. I never listen to that station, but before it was bought out by the wingers, it was a soft rock station that was fairly decent to listen to for local goings-on. Now, I just stay up to date via the local newspapers....and info exchange through my buddies.

Clear Channel is just piped in, no local input from what I understand.

We are lucky to have one liberal network here. Ed Schultz, Stephany Miller, Bill Press, Randi Rhodes (although she isn't liberal and seems to hate people who are). Their programming is piped in too, so no weather forecasts, no news, not even their shows too much of the time. It is apparent no one is listening to the shows because they can be off the air for quite a long time.

But when they are on, I prefer them to TV or local programming and certainly to rightwing radio.

Do you have access to these shows?

As I have said before, this area is civil war south. Stars and bars in windows, back windows of trucks along with their guns, and some fly them on flagpoles.

Dixie isn't going to rise again, it never left.

It spread northward...and took up long, hard roots! :P
