GR...I just watched the movie

http://www.breachmovie.net/ about the spy Hansson, an FBI agent who sold many government secrets to Russia. The way Hansson operated was so incredibly like the machinations of the neocons and the present administration.
At the end of the movie, I told my husband that the Bushies must have learned a great deal from Hansson, including how to use subterfuge and religion to keep the truth about their real characters from being revealed to the general population. Hansson was a so-called Catholic who "prayed the rosary every day!"
The last few minutes of the movie are taken up with Hansson (played by actor Chris Cooper) telling the arresting agent WHY he had betrayed his country. He said it was one of two things: EGO and PATRIOTISM...EGO when
he had been appointed as the head of the investigation into finding the FBI mole. His ego was so satisfied as he sat in a room full of his colleagues who were all trying to figure out the mole's identity at the same time he knew they were looking for HIM! Patriotism came into it when Hansson said that what he'd done revealed how really insecure our nation was....and this was in February of 2001, a few months before 9/11.
What an ego trip it must be for Cheney and Bush...to know that, while they're supposedly "spreading democracy" and "fighting terrorists" they're taking democracy away from the "land of the free," and creating more terrorists everyday than would've been dreamed of before the Sept. 11 WTC attack.
