Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, UAE
gathered in Tehran April 23d this year for a two-day meeting with Iran's politicians and elites.
Ambassadors, elites, and politicians were to discuss:
(1) popular uprisings in the Middle-East and North Africa,
(2) political and social prospects there,
(3) impacts of (1) and (2) on interstate relations,
(4) impacts of (1),(2) and (3) on Iran.
Among the politicians:
Sheibani, Salehi's Deputy Foreign Minister for Middle-East and Common Wealth Affairs,
Elahian, National Security and Foreign Policy Commission member,
Forqani, Ahmadinejad's Director General of the International Affairs Department.
These phrases were bandied about:
(a) the global management system,
(b) the region is now a determining factor of (a),
(c) the region links three world continents,
(d) the region supplies 60% of the world's energy,
(e) the region is the heartland of the world.

Maj Gen Safavi, his Advisor for Military Affairs, asserted Wednesday July 6th:
"...Muslim states' main share in control over the world's vital energy corridors has provided Islamic nations with an excellent chance to control the world economy."
That echoes the phrases bandied about at Salehi's two-day conspiration April 23d.
Maj Gen Safavi puts a military spin on the matter but that's only to be expected.
