Diplomatic Surrender

Kayhan Barzegar speaks up for the deviant faction in "Iran-Saudi Relations: Time for Active Diplomacy," in the Mosallas magazine interview re-published by ICANA July 11th.

Instead of answering the question he was asked --"What is the main factor affecting the Iran-Saudi Arabia relations after the Saudis’ military intervention in Bahrain?"--Barzegar evades the question AND its answer:

He substitutes:

"The relations between Iran and Saudi [Arabia] are based on two kind of issues.

The first is political-security relations in the Persian Gulf which are directly related to the issue of stability and the increased role of the two states in the region."

The first issue = rivalry between Iran and The Superpower's puppet Saudi Arabia in the Gulf area.

Barzegar confesses:

"For several years now rivalry between the two countries ... has aimed to create a balance between preserving their values and interests."

In other words, the aims of the deviant faction are:

(1) appear to preserve the values and interests of Khomeini

(2) actually preserve the the values and interests of The Superpower's puppet, Saudi Arabia.

Here, balance means subversion of the values and interests of Khomeini.

The particular form this subversion currently takes is Salehi's buddying up to The Superpower's puppets in West Asia.

But Kayhan Barzegar hankers for the complete overthrow of the values and interests of Khomeini:

"At other times, it [the fake rivalry between the two countries] has been quite 'constructive' like the increased bilateral relations under the former Iranian president, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani."

Ideally, rivaly = fake rivalry with both countries at the beck and call of The Superpower.

So Barzegar claims "Saudi Arabia is unlikely to be a serious military threat to Iran"; indeed, "military action against Iran dose [does] not have any place in the country’s [Saudi Arabia's] security strategies."

From my July 7th Open Crisis post:--

"IRNA reports Thursday July 7th:

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Thursday that the western countries are concerned about Iran’s defense and military might but have reached to the conclusion that taking action against the country would bear no fruits.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Foreign Ministry, Mehmanparast made the remark in a meeting with [>] a group of air force personnel and army commanders[<] in Shiraz on Thursday.

To preach to air force personnel and army commanders that

is to defy the commander-in-chief's leadership and

to betray ALL the armed forces of Iran and

to prettify The Superpower AND

to fuel discord and uproar."

Four days after July 7th Barzegar is calling for "Active Diplomacy."

The word "Active" in the phrase "Active Diplomacy" is code for OPEN OVERTHROW.

ICANA = Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency
Islamic Consultative Assembly = Majlis ... mbly_(Iran)

Who got ICANA to re-run the Barzegar interview?

Here's a clue:

IRGC Obligated to Identify Deviant Elements: MP

TEHRAN, July 13 (ICANA) – In response to former deputy Majlis speaker Mohammad Reza Khatami’s remarks about the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, MP Hossein Fadaii says, “Sepah [IRGC] is obligated to identify deviant and corrupt elements and inform people about their plots and ploys.”

He said seditionists should admit...that they have cooperated with the hegemonic system and counter-revolutionary groups and should apologize to people for betraying the country.

The MP added the smear campaign against the IRGC is doomed to failure because it is the same path taken by the United States and Israel.
