500 protest Iraq war in Hollywood: police

More than 500 protestors marched against the Iraq war in Los Angeles Saturday, holding up coffins draped with the US flag and led by veterans from various conflicts.

Police said at least 500 people, most of them young, marched down Hollywood Boulevard in the tourist district of the US city, carrying banners denouncing President George W. Bush and calling for an end to the conflict.

The protest came ahead of the fifth anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq on March 20. A similar demonstration also took place on Saturday in London, where organizers said tens of thousands of people gathered.

Vietnam war veteran Ron Kovic, whose book 'Born on the 4th of July' was turned into a film with Tom Cruise, joined the Los Angeles march in his wheelchair, flanked by other injured veterans.

Tens of thousands in London. 500 in L.A.

Interesting how we escaped tyranny from England only to see England become a freer country. But then, we are now arguably the least free of the 'republics'.

I think we slipped from Top 10 and then out of the Top 50.

It is not good to be ruled by The Fed. Or the Bushbarians.

Central banking started in England oddly enough. About 1650 as I recall.

Do we get the government that we deserve? To a certain degree, I think so.
