Where are war architects now, four years after 'Mission Accomplished?'

David Edwards and Mike Sheehan
Tuesday May 1, 2007

Today marks four years since President Bush announced "Mission Accomplished" on an aircraft carrier, proclaiming an end to major combat operations in Iraq. Yet the war continues and "the majority of Americans say we are on the wrong path," as ABC's Diane Sawyer remarks on Good Morning America.

"How naive that ['Mission Accomplished'] banner looks four years later," adds ABC News senior national correspondent Claire Shipman, "and that is being charitable."

She continues, "It is striking when you look at it, how circumstances have changed for all of the president's men behind the war effort" as she recalls the moment aboard the carrier as a "moment of Bushian bravado that this administration will never live down."

Bush & Cronies have always treated this as a game.

Life is not a game.

Losers in a game get to play again. Losers in this suffer and/or die.

Where have all our children gone...

Here's one of those lying architect supporters NOW, COLIN POWELL, attempting to appease his conscience and to convince the public that he's a good guy. He's discussing how he tried to talk Bush out of the Iraq invasion...way back in 2003. He actually spent 2.5 HOURS trying to do it! Wow! What perseverance! WHAT BRAVERY! Aren't we all IMPRESSED?

Then the bastard went on national tv and to the UN and LIED so his little boss could go ahead and do what POWELL CLAIMS he didn't want to do! He sold his soul, and now he's trying to redeem it!

Go back under your rock, COLIN, you lily-livered, yellow-bellied, lying, maggot-bait, asshole son of a bitch!

Powell: 'I tried to avoid this war'

Quote:
It was revealed today that prior to the Iraq war, then-Secretary of State Colin Powell spent two and a half hours trying in vain to convince President George W. Bush not to invade.

"I tried to avoid this war," Powell told the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, reports Sarah Baxter in the Sunday Times. Powell said he walked Bush through the risks of becoming an occupying force in an Arab country.

:protest: :angry5:

THIS ONE TAKES THE FIRST PRIZE FOR LYING BY THE ARCHITECTS OF THE IRAQ WAR!

RUMSFELD DISOWNS THE WAR

Quote:
The former defense secretary graces the pages of October’s GQ (of all places) to make some bold assertions, claiming he was not a driving force behind the Iraq war and that he warned the president of many of the problems that have come to pass.

There are many gems in the lengthy interview. Asked whether he misses the president, for example, Rumsfeld replies simply: “Um, no.

So that is how they manage to live with themselves? Lie?

Well, I guess it comes easily to them.

And meanwhile, Bush himself is trying to pass the war off on the next President...

Yes, Bush is going to make sure the next president (assuming he actually leaves office) has to try to clean up his dirty mess.

But, then, so many of them who are running voted FOR it...so in a way, it's a kind of rough justice for them, too.
