Why? Because he's gay. Because the family intended to dsiplay that in their loving photos of him and his life long partner at an Arlington, Texas megachurch.

Says the backwards minister Gary Simons of HIgh Point Church:
Quote:
"The issue was not so much that Mr. Sinclair was, from the church's perspective, an unrepentant sinner. It's that it was clear from the photos that his friends and family wanted that part of his life to be a significant part of the service. Can you hold the event and condone the sin and compromise our principles? We can't. I can imagine a similar situation involving a different sin. Perhaps a mother who is a member of the church loses a son who is a thief or murderer. The church would surely volunteer to hold a service. But I don't think the mother would submit photos of her son murdering someone. That's a red light going off."

Chances are his theology is as idiotic as his tautology.

Wow, so being gay is the same as being a murderer. Shit, how come I never figured that out before?

You've got common sense.

So, now the policy is:

Don't ask. Don't tell. Don't expect no funeral.

I heard this yesterday. Couldn't believe it.

If I have read the Bible right, Jesus taught to not judge (lest you be judged). He taught, let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. He taught, hate the sin, love the sinner.

As far as homosexuality goes, he didn't say a thing.

Why do people pick and choose which parts of the Bible they want to follow--which ones are most comfortable for them? Wasn't Jesus message that it is difficult to follow the narrow path? Heck, these people follow the widest path possible--the path of judging everyone else and self satisfaction.

I wouldn't want my relative to have a service in such a church. That church isn't good enough for him. Jesus said to not be like the Pharisees, and that church is full of Pharisees.

At the least that church is full of unrepentant sinners, and I am sure they will be only too happy to have their sins on display when their time comes.

And they don't even know enough to be ashamed of themselves...

That's the part I'm the most surprised about.
