WHO SCORED AND WHO DIDN'T?
I thought McCain was extremely disrespectful and smirking. He never did turn to Obama and look him directly in the eye. He told a lot of stories about himself, Reagan, and how he'd been here and he'd been there. He seemed to be rather emotional at times and his facial contortions were really repulsive. While these things can't be determined as a "score" or not, I think it certainly demonstrates how disdainful McCain is of anyone who has the audacity to challenge him on any issue, but especially a young black man who shows him up for what he is...an old man from the old political school who wants to keep the Bush policies alive and well for another four years. He is overconfident...which makes me think he and his neocon buddies think he's got this one sewn up....like Bush did in 2004.
On the other hand, I think McSame's overall attitude is going to be a major turnoff to swing voters and independents. He might have won over a few undecideds by his talk about his "record," but real thinkers are going to realize that McSame is not what America needs if we want to ever overcome the harm done by the Bush administration.
AND I wonder if McCain might have felt a little twitch in his willy when he alluded the one time to his running mate! He smiled like a proud papa!
I think Obama won this first debate by a narrow margin, and I also think he's got to get more aggressive and hit McCain immediately when he tells lies. Take a look at this live blog:
