With the way Sarah Palin was talking recently, she made it sound like you want to aspire to being a governor rather than a senator. So then, what's with all this talk about some high profile people running for that position?

Palin's been rumored to run for an Alaskan senate seat. Gov. Jeb Bush rumored for same. And there's the increasing noise about Chris Matthews.

I thought the senate didn't gain yah anything. You certainly can't claim executive experience, according to Sarah the pitbull. So, what gives?

Ah, but Sarah never met a camera or microphone she didn't love. And there are loads of them around the Senate, eh?

As Olbermann said, apparently she loves Alaska, she just doesn't love being there. Has she been back at her Governor's job since the election? So much for how important that executive position is.

I think being a Senator has much more of a "shiny" side than being..say, a Representative or a governor. (If you're British, you might prefer to be in the House of Lords rather than the House of Commons, if you have the pedigree papers, of course! :P ) As a Senator, you're one of two people representing your state in DC, where you can hobnob with others of your kind. As a Rep, you're just representing a district, or a portion of your state... which doesn't have the same voting authority as the entire state so your goodwill isn't quite as important to some would-be gallants who want you to vote for their cause.

Just my take...but if poor old Bush in Skirts can find a way to garner attention and funds, that broad is going to do it...and Alaska's citizens aren't very selective as to who they prefer for their Senators, although I don't know anything about the second Alaskan Senator. I just know of Ted Stevens....and its governor, Sarah Palin.

All I know is the new AK Senator is Dem and does want to open ANWR for oil drilling.

Guess you have to be an Alaskan to understand that. They do all get payment for their oil, but don't they care about all the wildlife that will be killed off? Don't they remember the horrible oil spill that destroyed their fishing industry?

Alaska is called the cradle if the world because if it is destroyed it will snuff out so many species including many birds that depend on it to raise their young.
