my personal feelings is that religion should and must be kept out of the workplace completely. by opening this door, it becomes another step to bring religion more into the government. once this becomes a "law" it will be under the department of labor's jurisdiction to enforce (federally) that private companies comply with federally mandated religious "freedoms".
additionally, imagine the burden being placed upon an employer, trying to accommodate every employee's religious practices, including those religions that are not of the mainstream that have some far-fetched practices. it will become a nightmare for the employer not only in accommodations, but to be forced to accept all religions. every religious wacko will now demand some special treatment from their employer.
regardless of who is sponsoring this bill, i certainly hope it will not be passed. and, as i stated above, this makes religion enforcement now a responsibility of (part of) the government. the door being partially opened here is the beginning of the end. the separation of church and state is being eroded with this bill!!!
