The South has a tendency to be a bit slow about all things. I've lived in the South all my life, and it's just that way. I'm not saying that as a criticism, although I always believed that my area would have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, and it sure enough was...it's still moaning, groaning, and pouting. We do have brown-bagging at some area restaurants, and we can buy beer in one town in my county, but not in the county seat

...go figure...it's 12 miles to the beer-friendly town, and we have two thriving ABC stores.
If my area seems to be turning against the war in Iraq, believe me, it's a given that most of the rest of the South has, too. We have casual friends who are Republicans....they like Bush but not the war. Last night they left for Raleigh. One of their friends out there had just learned that her son had been killed in Iraq. THAT I do not understand. How can anyone who hates the war like Bush?
