Election workers seeing voting problems
Complaints in Fla., Ind., Ohio, Miss. as workers tangle with new machines

WASHINGTON - Programming errors and inexperience dealing with electronic voting machines frustrated poll workers in hundreds of precincts early Tuesday, delaying voters in Indiana, Ohio, Miss. and Florida and leaving some with little choice but to use paper ballots instead.

In Cleveland, voters rolled their eyes as election workers fumbled with new touchscreen machines that they couldn’t get to start properly until about 10 minutes after polls opened.

“We got five machines — one of them’s got to work,” said Willette Scullank, a troubleshooter from the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, elections board.

When will we know the actual results of these races? Tomorrow? Next week?

I believe that it wont really matter because the Diebold voting machines are operated by the NSA anyway so the results were probably known before the election even started.

It is funny you mention that Rogue. From the HBO movie I know that the memory cards can be changed. It was proven but you make a valid statement. I wonder if those same memory cards are checked prior to the election to see if they have been tampered with and already have info on them?

Everything that can possibly be wrong with these stupid machines are: not working properly, not correctly counting your vote, being able to change the memory card, being able to count your vote more than once, etc., etc.
I ask again, why, when it comes to our votes for government, are we using cheap, disfunctional machines when there's touch-screen machines out there that work perfectly?

I agree with jobot that there's something wrong with a voting system that can't be as secure as the automatic teller machines that banks use. You put in your card, tell the machine how much you want, and out the cash pops WITH a receipt that tells you how much you took AND what's left in the kitty!

What could be easier...and don't tell me it's too EXPENSIVE...I say that the Constitution and our nation's freedoms are worth a few extra bucks spent on making sure that WE THE PEOPLE get a fair voting result.

That's the thing, it has nothing to do with spending a few more dollars.
Seriously, how much could it possibly cost?

...if every single bank across the US has thousands of atms that get used thousands of times a day, and work perfectly, why can't the voting machines?

It's not about the money to get better machines, it only has to do with the fact that the machines "work fine."

Because the machines are made by Diebold and we know how honest they are.
